Baiturrahim Mosque is one of the historic mosque in the province of Aceh, Indonesia. The mosque is located in Ulee Lheue, Meuraxa subdistrict, Banda Aceh is the Sultan of Aceh in the 17th century. The future of the mosque named Masjid Jami 'Ulee Lheu. In 1873 when the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque burnt Netherlands, all the mosque's congregation was forced to perform Friday prayers at Ulee Lheue. And since then his name to Baiturrahim Mosque.

Since its establishment until now this mosque has undergone several renovations. Originally the mosque was built by reconstruction completely made of wood, with simple shapes and to be located next to the current location of the mosque. Because it is made of wood, the mosque did not last long since rotted and should be torn down. In 1922 the mosque was built with permanent material by the Dutch government to the European architectural style. But this mosque does not use iron or bone material support but only bricks and mortar alone.

Based on historical records, in 1983 Banda Aceh was rocked by a devastating earthquake and the collapse of the dome of the mosque. After the community to rebuild the mosque, but no longer put up the dome, just a regular roof. Ten years later, was undertaken extensive renovations to the building of the mosque, leaving only the original building at the front of the 1983 earthquake.

The rest 60 per cent is a new building. Until now the original building of the mosque still looks solid on the front.

On December 26, 2004, earthquake and ensuing tsunami leveled entire buildings around the mosque and the only building remaining and survived is Baiturrahim Mosque. [2] The condition of the mosque made of these bricks broken only about twenty percent of it so the Acehnese admired this mosque as a symbol of the greatness of God.
