Insightful Trip For The Grand Prize

in #story8 years ago

Good day my fellow Steemians!

Today i was invited to a TV show where i and other two people competed for a grand prize of $2500.

Last week i had sent a scratch ticket. On the back of it it said that if i send it back i have the chance to get invited to a Tv show and win a grand prize. Two days later i got a letter that i was in and if i show up i get a garanteed winning plus i can roll a wheel for the ultimate prize.

So the big day came. On the way to the big city of Budapest i was full of hopes. (That's not me on the picture but some random guy)2017_03_29_07_04_55_OneShot.jpg

I knew that i had 33% chance but i was already spending my winnings. After i have paid all my debts i would still have enough money to buy some used car and a good camera.
I had a compact camera in the past but i don't have it any more. But when i have found Steemit i have the urge again to take pictures and share all the interresting and beautiful to other people.

Anyway, on the way to the studio my grilfriend and i had some time to take a few pictures about some of the amazing buildings of Budapest with her phone.

This is the East Side Railway Station.

Sadly i don't know the name of this cathedral but it is amazing.

I have arrived to the studio and met the other two possible winners. The studio itself was a great experience to me. I have never seen the inside of a studio and never was filmed before. Although it was only a 5 minute shwo i felt like i was the star of a world famous series.

The task was simple. we had to spin a wheel and the biggest number was the winner. I went first and i have rolled a pretty big number, 75. The next person roll something around ten. At that moment i was starting to see the camera of my dreams in my hands. It was down to the last person. She rolled the wheel and...85.

85! I could not belive it. It was a terrible feeling and to top it off i had to show a poker face because it was a TV show after all.

After that we went to have a meal and i was saying to my self. "I did not win the grand prize but i got some compensation which covered our trip to Budapest and back plus a great meal."

But when i got back on the train a sudden sadness came over me. It felt like i had lost all my dreams.

As the train rolled out from the station i saw something that changed everything. I saw-just for a moment- a homless person under a bridge preparing a fire for the night. And the it hit me.
I should not be sad and should not feel unlucky. I have spent a great day with my loved one in a beautiful city for free and had some unique experiences. And unlike that guy-and millions of people around the world-i have something to eat every day and i have shelter over my head.

At that moment something changed in me. I was still sad but it was a whole different kind of sadness that i can't even explain.

From that moment on i was just gazing out the train window the whole way enjoying one fenomenal sunset and the darkness after.
