Caring Art Nandong of Simeulue

Nandong in Simeulue community is a medium to express feelings. Included in the art of speech has long been rooted in the culture of Simeulue. This art is one art that is very popular among the local people.

Simeulue is one area that did not escape from the fury of the tsunami disaster that struck as most of the rest of Aceh end of 2004. However, even though the tsunami in this area as powerful with that hit other regions, Simeulue recorded fewer casualties.

In the history of the record sheet, Simeulue residents had known tsunami since several centuries ago. As well as the story of smong (big waves) that occurred in 1904.

Nandong poetry and beats drum has a different rhythm between several districts in Simeulue. Nandong sung in the district of Simeulue Tengah, Teluk Dalam, Salang, Alafan, and Simeulue Barat different characteristic of the Eastern District of Simeulue, Teupah West, and South Teupah.

Music Nandong generally pitched softly, and the singers voice wailing scream. Vocalist Nandong reminiscent of the music outs in the Sunda. Which is also sung in a shrill voice as if to tear the sky stomach to immediately shed a blessing.
