A good writer must consider the functional elements such as the plot, setting, character, point of view, style and the theme. A plot is composed of the events that make up the story: introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and denouement. A setting is the general background of the character that the plot is being specified: place and time. A character is the one who acts, perform, or do the action and sometimes the main character of the story is the narrator: protagonist and antagonist. The point of view is the way the action reported to the reader, author, spokesperson or character. The style is the choice of word or language by the writer. Lastly, the theme or the central idea reveals a universal truth or the moral lesson of the story.
