After lunch, we continued our journey back to the Baiturrahman Great Mosque, located in downtown Banda Aceh. This mosque was formerly the mosque of the Sultanate of Aceh. Baiturrahman Great Mosque is one of the grandest mosques in Southeast Asia. The mosque is located in downtown Banda Aceh adjacent to the traditional market of Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Indonesia. The mosque, which occupies an area of approximately four hectares of this beautiful and unique architecture, has seven domes, four towers and one main tower. The Italian marble-floored room, reaching 4,760 m2, can accommodate up to 9,000 worshipers. In the front yard of the mosque there is a large pond, grass neatly arranged with ornamental plants and coconut trees that grow on it.
