Mark's Story

Aloha my name is Mark. I live in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

My first encounter with Yeshua was in July 1977. I had just graduated from the University of Hawaii in Telecommunications (Radio and TV Production).

In 1996 I received the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) and began my journey to discover my Hebrew roots.

Although I am fourth-generation Okinawan in Hawaii, my mother's side traced her roots back to Jerusalem to the House of David. It's funny, my mother is very fair-skinned with red hair, and on my fraternal side, my grandmother had blue eyes. I guess some sailor had some fun in Okinawa.

In 1997, I began my Hebrew studies. In that year there was a May celebration of Israel and someone found my name, Miyashiro. My uncle Tom Miyashiro was one of the soldiers in WW2 who helped liberate the Jews in Dachau.

I have been fortunate to travel 3 times to Israel, to serve in Ministry as Video Production for my Pastor Paul Kamanu. We taped many episodes for our program Grace In Action.

I have continued to study Hebrew Culture; I find it difficult to write and read Hebrew letters because there is so much to remember.

I am an author and have many business ventures. My first fictional novel is called, "Olympic Grill". It is about a dishwasher whose name is Amos. Amos has a mental illness and discovers his Hebrew roots. The reason why I called the title Olympic Grill is because many of the staff are of multi-ethnic backgrounds, just like the Olympians. I have 4 books so far on Amazon.com.

I would like to learn more about the Hebrew culture, however, I am sorry, I don't enjoy Israeli cuisine.
I once tried my hand at Stand-Up Comedy as the "Unemployed Comic" a Jewish-Okinawan Comic with my Kippa and Tallit.
