One should never lose empathy and solidarity.
I agree, Nancy. We can't let hate win but at the same time we can't let our kindness be exploited. It's like a tightrope walk. It always amazes me how much kindness happens anonymously without fanfare or expectation of reciprocation. It's so much fun and so rewarding to help people without them every knowing who it was. It creates a chain reaction and they usually end up doing the same for someone else. How wonderful that you share your time like that. I can tell you from spending time with my 82 year old Mom and many of her neighbors that loneliness is epidemic, especially after Covid. There are so many seniors who have no one at all. I bet that elderly woman you visit looks forward to your visit the entire month. Your time is the best thing you can give. Thanks, and I hope you never change either.
