Mindful Moments - So. Much. To Think About

I made an announcement a few days ago in my last post. Since then the pieces are starting to fall together on the new book. I’ve gotten all of the blog posts into a single document and am analyzing which chapters need revising and beefing up. I’ve also decided to add a brand new chapter that I’ll be tacking on at the end so the final manuscript will have a total of eleven.

I’m thrilled to have an excellent book designer and a very talented illustrator (more on this very soon) lined up to do a series of original illustrations based on the book’s theme. The title is proving to be a little more tricky. There are quite a few books already on the market with the main title of “Mindful Moments” so I’ll have to come up with a subtitle to make the book stand out. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed!

Mindful Moments is meant to be a companion to The Perfect Pause. I also need a book blurb for the cover. I have no idea how I’ll be able to match Leon Logothetis’ endorsement of The Perfect Pause but I’ll put on my thinking cap and trust the universe to work its magic in that regard. A good cover blurb does make a huge difference in a book’s chance of success. This will likely be my last book for a while as I shift my focus to travel, teaching meditation, and vlogging in these next few years.

Pandemic Woes

With new COVID-19 infection rates beginning to spiral out of control here in the US many states are facing another full lockdown. No matter what side of this predicament you’re on, another full lockdown will affect all of us economically. The Fed has been pumping insane amounts of dollars into the stock market and, because of this, I worry how sharply and quickly the economy will all go south when this bubble bursts. Hopefully it doesn’t take the crypto market with it. I'm praying.

The survivalist part of my brain is telling me to begin stocking up on non-perishables and all of the stuff that was in short supply earlier this year. It's always best not to follow the herd in these types of cases and prepare before you need to. I think we’re in for a fall/winter like most people alive now have never experienced.

De-Fi, Crypto’s New Golden Child

We’ve all been “patiently” waiting for alt season amongst a plethora of false-starts this year. There are still opportunities to earn in these sideways markets, even for those of us who don’t have the stomach for day-trading. There’s no denying it De-fi, or decentralized finance, is the next hot thing in crypto.

A few weeks ago I joined Compound and took advantage of some insane interest rates (30%) for BAT. Unfortunately that 30% interest rate was very short lived and seemed to be more like a publicity stunt to get people to join the platform. I love the idea of earning a passive income from cryptocurrency that would just be sitting in a wallet earning nothing otherwise. This is one reason I like Tezos (XTZ) so much. You can delegate your coins to a “baker” and generate a relatively reliable passive income. It won’t pay the bills by itself but every little bit helps in this market.

Random Shots

We’re in the full heat/humidity of the Minnesota summer. This ushers in a few months of constant complaining about said heat and humidity. Many of the locals in this region with Scandinavian roots have zero tolerance for it but, thankfully,
I'm not among them. I seem to thrive in it. At least summer in the Upper Midwest is beautiful to look at. Attached are some random photos I’ve taken over the past few days around the neighborhood.

That’s all for now. The outdoors and my bicycle beckons. I wish you all a great weekend!

With Gratitude,

Eric Vance Walton

The heat and humidity has been horrible here. We were camping this past weekend and we actually came home early because it was just too unbearable to be outside. We have also been slowly stocking up on things we might need. Not hoarding, but just being ready so that when people do freak out, we don't need to. What if you had the title be "Mindful Moments: Perfecting the Pause" or something like that. It throws back to the first book while still indicating there is room to grow. More to learn if you will.

That's the weather we had here last week and it was horrendous. I'm sure it made camping super uncomfortable.

It's smart to be prepared and then if the worst does happen we won't be out there amongst the hoarders fighting for what's left.

That title is incredible! I think that might just be it. It links both books and hints that The Perfect Pause should be read first. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

We are heading to the UP in a couple of days, I am hoping things cool down before then!

It's cooled down here a lot and there's almost no humidity. Hopefully this weather is headed East!

Very varied and complete your post today, Eric! Here in Venezuela we have fallen back into extreme quarantine. As for our economy: Is there a lower scale of the abyss to be able to talk about the Venezuelan economy? I don't think so. I hope that things in the crypto market stay positive and that all the ideas regarding your new book, flow. I understand about the title, because it's like naming a child. So take your time. I'm sure that name will come up and inspire you. Nice weekend for you, too! ;)

I'm going to start doing a post like this on Saturday's to recap the week, I think. It was kind of fun just to ramble, a little mix of good (the new book) and bad (covid). I'm really sorry for what you guys are going through there. I don't think Americans would deal with it quite as well as your people have. Are people using crypto over there for daily purchases? I see a story in the news from time to time about the how Venezuelans are using Bitcoin and other cryptos to circumvent the fiat financial system. Yes, picking the title has to be a natural flow and feel right. It'll strike me like lightening when the time is right. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Gotta listen to that voice. I think that a not very good analogy is that we’ve already had our 1929 shock to the system, but not yet our 1933. And I’m not just referring to the economy. Normalcy bias still has its talons in us.

Yes Sir. Multiple bubbles have been expanding for more than a decade now. I don't think the world has seen anything quite like this one yet (maybe I'm wrong?). Watching the reactions to this virus have taught me a lot about human psychology. Most people don't feel the true gravity of a situation until it affects them directly or someone in their inner circle. My niece is a healthcare worker in Florida (and is pregnant) and just told us she's tested positive for COVID-19. As of now she's saying it just feels like the flu but we're praying she's not one of the people who develop the more serious symptoms.

Many very important news in this post. Happy as the manuscript of your new book is advanced, it is good that you have added another chapter, regarding the title I leave you at the end a link that can help you choose a title for your book

I hope you find the right title for your book.
Have a wonderful weekhello dear friend @ericvancewalton good afternoon

Remind me why I shouldn't be buying an iPhone if I have the money. Stunning outdoor shot by the way especially the first one. I think the prospect of earning passive income is something a person won't want to miss out on I get why you went for the BAT

Thank you! Lol. It’s pretty good but seems to be losing the race to Android in many ways.

It’s so nice to have other options to earn in markets like this!

that car in the 2nd random shots picture, ufff <3, happen to know which one it is?

It was a 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. Such a beautiful car but they weren’t known for their reliability. : ) I think it stalled on him.
