Mike, please where are you?" Kosi had called her more than 10 times since she started the journey.
“I'm in Onitcha now oh, Kosi! The wedding is two days away for Christ sakes! don't kill my battery”
It was bad enough that she was sacrificing two days of her leave for her, did she have to wear her out with calls too?
"You need to test your gown now?" She whined.
"Oh Kosi, I'm coming, I'm almost there, oh nne?” She knew better than to hold it against her, there's a whole lot of pressure that comes with weddings.
Mike could hardly believe it's been six months already since her terrible encounter with Kamdi. Kosi's wedding came right in time to get her mind off the whole thing. she spent most of the time making reservations and booking services. Being Kosi's maid of honour had to be the hardest thing she has had to do yet, but It did her a lot of good. Unlike what she would have preferred Kosi wanted a big wedding.
" Abeg oh, Mike, it has to be the talk of the town. PH must hear my voice " She went.
Which one was Mike's own, Gado had enough money to throw around.
She got to Port Harcourt by evening that day to Kosi's incessant whining, trying to make her stop only worsened it.
"It's my wedding, I don't want anything to go wrong" she said the umpteenth time. Sweet-wahalaless-Kosi, see what her Wedding had turned her into.
By the next morning, Mike was already looking forward to the end of the wedding. She only survived the night by the grace of God.
"Kosi, let me handle it" She begged Kosi when one of the brides maids called to cancel, Kosi was almost in tears. the whole drama got Mike considering not having a wedding at all. She had to ask Gado to come over when the whole thing was getting out of hand. His presence worked like magic.
"Who's stressing my baby" he could be so sweet. "Mami m" He held her to himself.
He convinced her to go out with him and by the time she got back about an hour later she was as good as new. But the whining still woke up with them the next morning.
Things got worse at the wedding rehearsals that night when Kosi's parents where running late, Even Gado could not get Kosi to calm down.
"They are here!" Kosi rushed into the changing room where Mike had gone to hide, "Could you go with Kamdi to pick them up, please”
“Okay" Mike did not think twice, anything to get away from the whole drama, even for a second.
She halfheartedly said good evening to the person sitting in the car when she got in, Gado had led her to the car that was supposed to get Kosi's parents from the airport. She noticed a familiar sticker on the windscreen and chuckled, Kamdi had exactly the same sticker. She would tease him about how outdated it was... just then, something hit her. "Could you go... with Kamdi?" she was to nervous to turn around. Yes Kamdi was coming for the wedding, he and Kosi were really close...actually, Kosi was the reason she met Kamdi at all.
"Onyemaikechya" It was Kamdi alright.
She turned to look at him trembling, she could not say a word.
"No..no" He laughed, "it's not a set up, just coincidence" He was so excited it scared her.
