It's funny how you sometimes find yourself in a situation, then realize you had been thinking about this and talking about this for a while. Could it be just a coincidence when things happen? Or perhaps we actually create reality with our thoughts.
Most of us by now know about the book" The Secret" and it's philosophy about focusing on something you want by getting yourself to feel the feeling of already having it.
When the Secret's philosophy was brought to my attention, I decided to give it a go and make a vision board of photos and words describing and illustrating the B.M.W that I thought I wanted.
It had been years and there was nothing but a beat up old Mazda with a horrible green color paint on it. It did serve me well though.
I am convinced now that I never really wanted a fancy car. In fact I hated the fact that traffic was thick and gas was expensive and parking was hard to find. So how could I feel that as well as the feeling of really wanting a B.M.W? I guess it sounds like sour grapes right?
I'm not saying that I don't believe that thoughts, passion and intention cannot create a reality for us in some way.
In fact I'm sure that I am living in Mexico right now with my partner, because of the pipe dreams that we had for years, of getting away from our daily routines in Canada. We made jokes about it with other people and among ourselves really never thinking that it would actually happen .
When we first got to Acapulco we were at an Airbnb for four nights in an area called Costa Azul where I pointed towards some homes in the distance on the hill, and said how I wouldn't mind living up there and now we are living up there.
The thing is we didn't even go looking for this place. I asked someone who lives here if they knew of something and within a short time we had our apartment in the exact location that I pointed to.
It is more than I could have expected. I refuse to believe that it was anything other then my thought of being here, that is why we are here.
Also this may sound like a silly story but the other day, Marc and I walked down the hill to get some groceries. This is a half hour or so walk which is easy going down. But coming back up with groceries, and a big jug of water is a killer. We were saving money on a taxi, which is not much but we decided to save it.
When we got to the top I realized that I had forgotten to buy limes for my guacamole which I was so craving and the avocados were absolutely perfect like a jewel that you can eat.
There was no way we could lug ourselves back down and up again just for some limes so we searched three stores nearby that are small and are run out of houses by the side of the road.
They had pop, chips, candy in every shape and color, canned beans, cigarettes, soap, and a few other items. None of them had limes. They even gave us strange looks for asking.
So now we stood by the road near our apartment speaking of our disappointment when Marc tripped on something. You guessed it. He tripped on a lime and we looked up to see that we were standing under a lime tree.
Really, I can't believe it was a coincidence. We would never have looked up if Marc didn't trip on the one lime that had fallen. It must have been thrown by my passion and strong yearning for those darn limes. I am sure there is a wise person somewhere that said "when life gives you limes... you make guacamole".
That though, is not what inspired me to write this.
It was a seed that Marc and I planted yesterday and today it came to fruition. Perhaps it seems like another silly story but to us it was, like a golden ray of beautiful light, beaming upon us, out of nowhere.
We sat on the terrace yesterday under a coconut tree, which is really great for a Canadian that should be freezing right now. We noticed a coconut on the ground and picked it up.
It was heavy with water inside so we began to find a way to get it open. These Canadians do not know how to get into a coconut.
We dropped it and thought how amazing it would be to get up that tree and get those coconuts for some coconut water which we usually get in a can.
Today the landlord and his wife showed up to do some work on the building. We had met them twice before. They are really nice Mexican people.
I realized how nice they were when out of the blue, the wife showed me a big plastic bag and, you guessed it. In it were two coconuts that she had brought for Marc and I. They were equipped with two straws which she poked inside the coconut and a machete which she herself cracked the coconut open with, so we could scoop out the tender meat of the young coconut to eat it.
Nothing had tasted or felt so good going down. But the best part was just the fact that we got what we had really desired as simple of a thing as it was.
After that, I am a believer that we can often think things into our lives and that thoughts can create our reality.

If thoughts and focused visualization actually shaped reality, the world would be full of lottery winners :)
The magic of this place are rules that are set in stone and apply to all of us equally and can not and will not bend under any circumstance.
The real law of attraction is that if you focus your intent and energy on things you want for yourself, you will recognize the chances in your life to get closer to them, as they would most often just slip by. It really is more of an internal process than something of a materialization.
The proposition that the thoughts shape reality is dangerous and a fallacy in my opinion, ask any gambler in random casino and they'll for sure tell you their visualizing techniques to influence the roulette ball.
