God willing, this post will be the last time I ever type the name @haejin ever again.
I'm at the end of my rope. I'm done. Capitulation has come and I am just plain over it.
I've tried to be a part of the battle. I have attempted to maintain my good name as a Steward of Gondor by participating as a healer and a flagger where I was able. I tried to be funny, I tried to be factual, I tried to rationalize with people. But to my point of view the progress being made is exactly zero.
There's no convincing Haejin's followers that he is not the second coming of Satoshi, and he will lead them to wealth beyond their imagining. Point out that he is not upvoting any of their content and they say that they are upvoting him for the wealth he brings them outside of Steem with his Crypto Calls. Point out that his crypto calls are crap and they say they are making money anyway. HOW??!?!?
I still am fully behind the efforts being made by @berniesanders and @fulltimegeek. There are may people who are continuing the battle, and they have my admiration. But as for me... Well:
I didn't come to Steem to be obsessed with fighting one person who refuses to be reasoned with and is content to suck the life out of the platform while the company behind the platform sit by and do nothing. So while the war rages on, it is time for me, on a personal level to throw in the towel.
I'm tired of beating my head against the wall. My energy is better spent working on The Fresh Five, getting back to the curation efforts that I feel support the platform, and hell, having some fun here!
Yeah I have had my will to be here shaken by this battle. You can see this in the number of posts I haven't posted of late. I can't say my faith in this platform as a whole is exactly stable right now, but I am giving the benefit of a doubt.
Quite honestly, I spent a majority of last weekend considering how much Steem Power to power down and send to the exchanges in the hopes of catching a market upswing and selling into what I would consider to be a more promising investment. In the end I have not powered down anything (easily verifiable), though this is still an option on the table I will consider as time progresses and Steem either works out these reward pool issues or it doesn't.
But I will no longer be party to the battle.
Okay... So I don't consider this a loss. I STRONGLY believe I have been on the right side of this war. And I remain as staunch supporter of those who find this a fight worth continuing.
But for me, I don't see the point of my continued stress and unhappiness due to it. For those who see it as worthwhile, you have my admiration, and I will attempt to support you with my upvotes when I can, though I am fixing to embark on a delegation project that will lower my SP to plankton levels, so there is only so much I will be able to do.
Chris Walken says it best. I do not regret being a part of the fight. I do not regret any of the posts I created, or arguments I made as a part of the war. But I also see that I have been able to sway exactly zero of Haejin's followers with my arguments, so I will use my energies for things I enjoy more. I Surrender. This fight is no longer mine to fight. If it ever really was to begin with.
I hope that all the people I follow make it through to the other side of this battle and a resolution can be found in good time.
All the best! I will no longer talk about Haejin. Please don't try to make me talk about him in the comments. I politely refuse.
In the end, you have to do what is best for you to continue here as a positive influence. Remaining in a battle that only serves to drive you crazy is of no benefit to anyone. I respect your honesty and your willingness to back off, while continuing to support those still involved with it all. If continuing with the "battle" makes you contemplate leaving steemit, then I'd say you made the right choice; your positive efforts will still be felt by so many.
....and I'm sure you're much easier to live with at home haha
dont give up till the end.. have faith is yourself.. never leave a work in the middle before getting results.. but still its your decision.. thank you so much for the efforts till now
I have been following this whole syndicate for a while and also been supporting #TeamBernie
NO! We are saving this platform from #rewardpoolrapists
with all respect to your father, I only have to say he is wrong..
if he was correct.. you would have more than 100,000 SP already
It's' an odd style of religious fervor... and I think it comes from a place of hope more than anything else. I've read a number of articles from people who have gone back and literally investigated the calls made, and the outcomes... and there was something like a 20% success rate. Add to this that timelines are never discussed and I literally cannot fathom how anyone believes they've made any money. I can only wonder if he's maybe upvoted enough people to keep his followers hopeful that they might be next. It's super odd... but, y'know, whatever.
I think you're on a happier path my friend... it's a tough fight, the numbers are not on the side of good, not by a fair chunk... and there's every chance that if this battle was won... then someone else just picks up that same mantle and we go round again.
I do think the best approach is just to enjoy the platform in the best way we can... I truly do think that the best use of our votes is to lift up the good.
I understand your frustration @mikepm74... I think that if @fulltimegeek doesn't get some whales to join him, it will be a really big shame.... I admire you taking the stand to even join in at the beginning and think you all deserve more respect than you've been given.
Unfortunately this platform is weighted to the point where only the big fish matter in this kind of fight. We can at best offer moral support (which you are helping me with at @friendsofgondor)... I know that won't make a difference in the long run, but it will at least help the #stewardsofgondor realize the respect that we all feel for the sacrifices they are making!
Cheers to you and thank you for the honest post. I hope things improve for all of us! :)
I have a lot of respect, cause you tried! You did the effort!
I didn't do that... I was ckecking the whole haejin-war from the outside... doing some math (how many haejins to kill the whole steem-platform?)... and I was thinking to power-down too, but I didn't.
... so I went back to my followers, interaction, content, etc.
... let's see what happens in the next months...
Have a great day Mike!

P.S. if you want to reply, you don't need to talk about haejin... btw... great GIFs you have chosen :-)

I surrender to the "Law of Code" and the "Wisdom of the Crowd". I am just unsure I will be able to hold myself to it.
This is probably a good idea.
I dislike the man, too. But his continued presence is also a canary against censorship resistance. Steemit Inc shouldn't take measures to remove him or his posts from steemit, unless he turns criminal (which I don't believe he is, although his actions are immoral).
Why not? Disaggrement on rewards is slill working thing.
The problem is that most of us cannot cope with it, even if we taken together. It is because the main part of the Steem Power belongs to 2-3% of users who keep neutrality and just watch the show.
I don't know who owns the steem power right now, but power laws and pareto distributions apply in any human endeavor.
OP was complaining that he was getting really upset about the whole situation. In his case, it was probably smart to just move on.
Hgin can act like a Steem warlord of he wants; it is going to harm the system a little (I would love to see how much his rewards affect the average user's rewards). But if steemit censored him then we're eventually going to have the same thing Google is doing, which is censoring viewpoints they don't like.
I'd prefer steemit to not be like that.
Surely Steemit is deeply flawed if it allows abuse to flourish, though. I'm too new here to have a deep knowledge of the history of this dispute but I wonder about the use of the word 'censorship' in this context. Curtailing someone's freedom of action (which might easily be against the general good) is not at all the same as curtailing their freedom of speech - and it certainly seems as though the actions of a minority need curtailing if the original vision on which the platform is not to be subverted for selfish ends.
Very good post
I think that absolutely no one can reproach you for this decision. It's hard to convince a person who does not have moral principles, but only steel jaws, who just like to vote for himself, rob others and become richer. Since all his signals are complete nonsense, I have only one explanation for such strange activity of his fans - these are paid offers.
The only thing I can not understand is why those who have real influence are not interfering in this situation. I mean other whales, orcas, dolphins, our delegates at last.
Is it only the minnows who must take care of the future of Steemit? But if all the minnows start fighting against the whale, when other whales, orcas and dolphins will continue to sell their votes as if nothing happened, who will be creating the content?
Thank you for your service. You have received the Steem Medal of Honor. :) Back to civilian life for you my friend. Hopefully you recover quickly from your battle wounds. :)
Wow, amazing buddy
