Stewards Of Gondor Delegate

sog fulltimegeek.png

Many of you know that back in late November of 2017, I was one of the many that @fulltimegeek chose to become a SOG recipient and the honor of receiving 5k SP (steem power) to curate and find quality content and great steemians to boost and recognize. And most of you know that I spend endless hours doing just that.

Things I have Accomplished Thanks To The SOG Delegation:

There are more little things I have done while this fabulous gift was bestowed upon me, but the ones mentioned above are the ones most known and my favorites to date.

And now I am in the process of researching a steemian to delegate my own SP to; since I have been fortunate enough to have my SP grow immensely over the last two months.

Today marks EXACTLY six months since I made my first post on steemit and I feel humbled, fortunate beyond words and will continue to pay-it-forward to ALL steemians. Thank you you ALL for your assistance, guidance and support.

And the BIGGEST THANK YOU to @fulltimegeek and his generosity, support and belief in me as an SOG recipient!

Curation League

curate this.png

About two weeks ago, fellow steemian and someone I look to as a steemit mentor, @abh12345 started a Curation League. Well, imagine my surprise when he started this new venture AND he mentioned me! Not once, but every week!

To see his latest post about this, see the link below.

Also very well done to @goldendawne and @carlgnash who have finished 2nd and 3rd - happy to see you guys here! (again!)

It is so easy to be considered for this league too! Head over and read his post... NOW!! Go! And good luck to all!

For more information about @abh12345's curation league see this post

I have been a faithful follower of @abh12345 for months and really take his posts, comments and support to heart. He is an amazing person and such a giving steemian! If you are NOT following him... YOU SHOULD BE!

The thing is... I had no clue @abh12345 was even doing this challenge of curation. I come onto steemit every day with the same attitude and philosophy.

  • How can I help someone else?
  • What can I do today to make steemit a better place for another steemian?
  • How can I pay it forward?
  • Who can I bring a moment of joy and accomplishment to today?
  • Which post(s) will really have me applauding and wanting to encourage the author?
  • What can I say to a fellow steemian that will encourage his or her determination and dedication to stay active on steemit?

So in closing of this post I want to thank everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who I have spoken to, thanked me, encouraged me, supported me and given me another reason to come back here EVERY day and do what I do. And especially @fulltimegeek and @abh12345 for their vision of making steemit a positive and GLORIOUS place for me to flourish and grow.

I don't what to say! You are too kind to me!

The amount of community work you do is amazing and you deserve massive credit for this!

Of course, @fulltimegeek's vision and kindness is what I think has empowered many of us to lift our game here and pay forward what we can to the community.

It's a pleasure to be 'working' with you :D

Feeling's mutual!
Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I'd be where I am today when I started six months ago!

It has been an incredible experience and with the support from you, and FTG, plus all the others I have met, none of this would have been possible!

You joined at a good time and have not wasted any of it :D

Long may the good vibes continue, thank you!

Please mentor me too @abh12345 so I can give back more to my Community

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!

Hi @goldendawne, kudos to you! I'm only 2 weeks old here in Steemit so I don't know much about what's going all around, but I've encountered a fair lot of users who went MIA already.

What you and your friends do for the community is awesome. Just wanted to say that. I know steemit is a crypto platform and investments play a huge role here, but it's really reassuring to see more people focusing on the community and blogging aspect :) More power to you and your vision. Thank you!

Ironic you say this...

I know steemit is a crypto platform and investments play a huge role here, but it's really reassuring to see more people focusing on the community and blogging aspect :

I came here for the writing and blogging platform... met some GREAT people and settled into some unbelievable groups and communities and my main focus still is on writing/blogging and interaction. The cryptocurrency is still a good benefit but not, or ever has been, my main focus.

And yes, sad to see people rush here then leave just as quick when they realize it is work and not a "get-rich-quick" deal. Guess that's the easy way to weed out some.

Yeah, that's what I'm discovering too. I got my homies now. Great people to be around with and learn things from.

I was thinking about the system too when it comes to blogging. Some aspiring bloggers sometimes lose heart when their blogs don't get noticed for a long while. And this happens because their content is buried deep by users with huge voting power or investments.

So I appreciate it that some people like you take time to curate and read other people's posts. My community role models does that too so I see a bright future for aspiring writers here in steemit.

Yes this does tend to happy... people want and expect instant gratification but it doesn't happen immediately. But over time and with persistence, it does. It happened that way for me.

Persistence is a lesson for me to learn indeed. Thank you for taking time to discuss your thoughts and experiences. It's a pleasant revelation.
once again, thanks for curating.

Well congratulations to you. It sounds like you're really helping to make Steemit feel more community oriented. I love seeing things like this here.

I actually joined up about six months ago as well, but I just didn't really feel like there was much here beyond people trying to get more Steem. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing a little Steem coming my way too. But it's not really on my radar most of the time. I'm here for the conversations, the interesting stories, the photos of places that I'll probably never get to visit and interacting with people a half a world away anytime I want.

If there's no real community, no depth beyond just trying to cash in on getting votes then there really isn't anything here to keep most people interested. Thanks for making Steemit a better place for people like me who just want Steemit to be an interesting place to learn new things, get to know people, and have some fun.

I actually joined steemit for the opportunity to write and blog. I had lost my passion for it due to an illness. I knew NOTHING about cryptocurrency (and the knowledge is still limited now) but I stayed on steemit, remained active and continued writing and blogging.

I am not here to get-rich by any means.

This is a platform where I can share my gardening, homesteading and other various topics I enjoy in life without having to maintain the website and its behind the scenes organization. This frees me up t write, comment and interact.

I have learned so many gardening and homesteading tricks, techniques and gained more knowledge in this shrt time than anywhere else online. Steemit has all the variables I need to thrive with my hobbies, life and writing.

Community is crucial. It's one of the first things I tell new steemians about. Join a community. Interact. Converse.

I couldn't agree with you more. And I envy your lifestyle, I grew up on a farm. I tended the garden. I fed, watered, and looked after the animals. Oh, and I planted enough fruit trees to feed an army. I worked all of the time and really hated a lot of it as a kid. I didn't know how good I had it, lol.

I haven't been back to the family farm in 5 years. The life that I took for granted back then would be like a dream vacation for me now. Just to step outside and be able to see more than a hundred feet without there being buildings blocking out the world would be heaven!

I'm looking forward to hearing about what I'm missing out on out there at your homestead. I'm sure you'll see me in the comments on your posts😊

It has indeed, been a wild ride. Thanks to @fulltimegeek we can help others and give them a leg up in Steemit. Keep on Steeming, @goldendawne. Together we can make steemit grow!

I know.. and he has chosen some UNBELIEVABLE people to be his SOGs. I look at this list (the one that @abh12345 puts out every week) and I see the numbers and think.. WOW! We are all sure making some great and positive progress every week!

And you... congratulations on your success and UPvoting, commenting and being a perfect example of what an SOG should be!

Thank you for your kind words.

I've watched you work really hard, grow, help others, and post interesting content! I'm happy to have met you. Take care and Godspeed on your endeavors.

This is the first time I stumble upon this awesome community project. Steemit is indeed a magical place blessed with many many awesome people who care and think about everyone.💖💗💕❤️♨️

You have had a very nice run. Congrats. More power to you. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! It has been a whirlwind to say the least but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Only six months on Steemit, and look at everything you've accomplished...great work! Really inspiring!

Yes.. I looked at the date today when I was writing some notes down for upcoming posts I want to make and smiled!!!
Six months! WOW! Time sure has flown by!

Great work @goldendawne really inspiring....you are the inspiration for all the steemians

thank you! WIshing you steemit success too!

Thank you so much for the well wishes

wow, I am impressed.

thank you! Hard work, determination, visibility and recognition are so important.

You are doing great, keep it up and you will go far. You have had some help and it is nice to get the help to do what you are doing.

Yes it is. It's always nice to get the help needed to progress... and it's a great feeling spreading that assistance to others that are in a good place for success too.

I am overwhelmed by the driving force of kindness here on steem. Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration.

Thank you!!
I see something worthwhile and I just go with it.
I am all about spreading the joy and helping others.

What an inspiring post especially for newbies like me. I like your attitude of paying it forward. That is how I see Steemit, too. I am so new I have no idea what this curation talk is, but I hope to learn. My heart is in helping others. Many thanks to you. @fulltimegeek picked a great one! Blessings

Thank you!
The curation is about UPvoting, resteeming and being able to help others and the steemit block chain grow.
Think of it as... you water a flower (another's post) and it grows (you give the other person more visibility and recognition) and before you realize it, the person you watered (curated) has grown into a beautiful flower and the blooms are being pollinated by other steemians (bees) and spread even further.

Yeah, I love gardening!

this is so awesome! very inspiring generosity <3 keep it up! XO

Thank you!
And I have no plans on going anywhere for quite a LONG time!

I have gained people connection and also learned how to steem works so far. I didn't gained financial side of this platform as of yet. But I am hopeful. I am also trying to unite some of the niche specific content creators here. Hoping this year I can do better.

What is the special niche you're looking at? Just curious

My current focus is off grid survival niche. Apart from that I also do photography, story writing and doodles.

Oh there are some great off grid people here
@mountainjewel
@fixedbydocs

Just to name two that come to mind

Thanks going to follow them :)

You have done so well in your time on Steemit but it is your character and charisma that has brought support your way
Keep up the good work

Thank you for saying that! You made me smile even bigger!
And yes, I plan on continuing and keeping the party going!

Great job Goldie!!! I haven't been around much happy to see you are doing so well❤️❤️

Thank you!! I hoe you're feeling better- miss seeing your posts!

Thank you! I just did a post! Have a beautiful weekend❤️

That's a nice compilation of your busy schedule and your help to fellow Steemians.

Congratulations for being in top 3 for yet another week on @abh12345's curation league.

Yes, it's all happening because of the SP delegation, thanks to @fulltimegeek.

Wishing you a nice and a relaxing weekend. :)

All so true!
FTG has really made such an impact on the steemit block chain. Imagine all the people the SOG have touched? All our outreach? Amazing!!

Congrats on being #1!!!

Thanks again.
You guys are role models for someone like me. I have to start my own SP delegation. Will be doing that soon.

Same here - @abh12345 showed me how to do it. Now I am seeking the perfect candidate. It's a lengthy process. I want to make sure my choice is the right one.

Congratulations @goldendawne. @Fulltimegeek is really a strong supporter of the steemit community. There is a lot of support going on here and I am so happy for you.

He is an amazing soul!
Support is what steemit so successful!

That is quite a list of achievements in such a short period of time. I once had the curator thing working, being a top 10 overall, but the rules have changed so much that I am still trying to work the (new) curator game out. But then Steemit is a much different and better place now than those heady days of 12 months ago.

Glad you have been able to find a place here and fit right in. That's what I love about Steemit - there is always more people, and interesting people to meet everyday.

All the best to you.

But then Steemit is a much different and better place now than those heady days of 12 months ago.

I have often wondered and would LOVE to see you, or someone, who has been on here and maybe left for a short time do a post about the changes. I mean, I have seen whales or high up dolphins make posts but they never left or took a hiatus. It would be interesting to see and read the changes.

An example is in the value of a vote. Before one of the recent Hard Forks (maybe 19?) only really the whale's votes had any power. Then the algorithm they used was changed to allow for everyone's vote to have some sort of reward capacity. That's also when it also started to drain your vote power much quicker also. One of my votes went from maybe 1 cent (at most) to about 20 cents overnight. That was a positive, in terms of morale. Not sure if you were here for that or not.

Another example of this would be a Curie vote. When I started here curie was just getting started too. So I did manage to get several votes from them which helped. But a curie vote from them (and they were just as powerful then as now with regards to amount of SP they held) back then was worth between $15 and $30 SBD (usually towards the lower end). Now it's well over $100 SBD. So it really pays to get a visit from them. Especially given the current value of SBD.

These changes affected the way the curator game was best played. That's when I realised I now had no idea how to curate like I used to. Lots of successful curators fell away then too.

The value of STEEM played a role in all of this also. It peaked overnight right at the start at $4, then proceeded to go down all the way to $0.10. People left in droves. But that was the best time to get involved.

Its better now in the sense that it is far more established. There are flourishing communities, related to many subject areas. A far broader range of bloggers, and numbers posting regularly. It used to be the same people getting voted on every time. They stopped producing much of value knowing the votes would always come in. That lead to a lot of internal bickering and drama.

The drama still exists. I usually avoid it. I didn't so much as leave for awhile, just went quiet and refrained from posting while I dealt with other issues. I kept one eye on the place (so to speak). So I am a newbie again at the curator game, lol. Which is fine with me. But I have been putting more of my energies in to posting and interacting. Steemit is definitely improved in those areas.

There is probably a lot more, but those are my main observations.

WOW- this was an insightful comment! Really gives me some perspective as to how things have progressed.

Retention has been... wishy-washy to say the least.
The price of steem and sbd brings people in... then they rush out again.

As far as the drama.. I am the same.I avoid it. I do my thing, bypass the arguments (flagging, down voting for personal vendettas, etc). If I wanted that, I would still be in high school or on FB.

I can see how the organization of communities has helped many steemians along; I know it has me immensely. Not sure where I would be on here without four or five different Discord groups.

One other thing I just thought of that I feel has helped the place. Despite the fact it may seem almost impossible to get onto the trending page, and may even seem like the posts that do get there are somewhat over valued, when I started, and even for some months after, there were post that received in the range of $10,000 - $20,000. There were many that would get $2000 + for little reason. Now if a post gets $500+ it generally is the top payout. That has helped smooth things out somewhat.

Retention has always seemed to be a problem. It goes in waves. People rush in, then after awhile some leave disheartened. This has been rectified somewhat by the communities, and groups such as at Discord.

Anyway, hope that helps. Got me reminiscing, lol. I love Steemit, and more so now than before. All the best.

You have been very helpful and forthcoming and it is SO appreciated!!!

I learn so much new information and tips every day and your comments here have been so eye-opening and helpful!

I look forward to reading more of your posts too!

You're very welcome. I did forget one important factor. Power down used to take 12 months. Then it was changed to 3 months. That had an impact on price and value perception of STEEM.

And lastly, initially STEEM had an annual built in inflation of 100%. This eventually was changed dramatically to 10%. I believe this was one of the big moves that helped improve the value of both Stemit and STEEM. It was touch and go at first as to how people would receive it, given a lot of people were believed to have gotten involved in the platform because of it's high inflation rate - which was shared out according to amounts one already had.

Today's heealthy state of Steemit and STEEM tells me these were all the correct decision.

Okay, I'll stop annoying you now :)

You must be the last SOG I still didn't know about, and you seem to not have stopped so I don't know how you didn't came on my radar.

All of you guys are great people, so I'm sure I'll like following you. You earned a follow thanks to your Steward friends being so awesome... now let's start to get to know you :D

Thank you! Not too often I am under the radar!

It's great to meet you too! I'll beheading over to your page!

@goldendawne true steemit has humbled me too before I thought I have knacks for writing being a young editor in our school paper but steemit taught me to be a good content writer I nEed to learn more. Grateful for @fulltimegeek got redeeming your post

I was a newspaper staff writer for years... a freelancer for even more years but honestly, nothing compares to steemit. It is really hard to put into words.

Congratulations! It must be a lot of FUN to be able to give to the community! I hope to get where you are someday, and am spending most of my time on Steemit nowadays, so I might ;-) Enjoy your Powerrr!

I never had envisioned being where I am today; but am so thankful for all the opportunities I have been given. It is an amazing feeling and adventure!

@goldendawne People like you are inspiration to us, thank you too for all the contributions you have made to the site.

Thank you! I look forward to EVERY day to see what new I can do, what fun I can bring and who I can make smile today!

Wow this post has so much info packed into it... thanks for sharing.

You're welcome! There are so many good ones out there; these are just the ones I follow and use to find new steemians daily.

You are proof that hard work, dedication , and honesty are very much appreciated in this community. Your success is very much deserved. Thanks for documenting your travel to the level you have achieved, I'm sure that it will serve as an inspiration for myself and others as well.

I am hoping to be able to inspire more steemians, especially on those frustrating days. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
