Dusts are found in our computers because the components found within are meant to "breathe". By breading I mean they need to be kept cool. They need air like we do. Dust finds it way into our computer through those nets and vents and the effects sometimes could be devastating.

EFFECTS
Heating
When the dusts accumulate, the vents are clogged, causing the fans for do more work. There will be less ventilation irrespective of the fact that the fan is taking more energy from your juice to power itself up. Hence, you'll notice your fan blows with more speed once in a while or at extreme cases, it blows continuously. Since the air circulation process are not performing optimally, the components will begin to heat as a result.

Insulating effects
Dusts are fine particles of earth. Hence when they accumulate on the motherboard of your computer, they sometimes impose some insulation effect and with this insulating effects, some conducting metals meant to send heat to the "cooling department" functions very poorly. Many components like the processor can stop working when it heats up to a little degrees above acceptable temperature.

Furthermore, many components are not soldered on the board but plugged using cables. These components includes but not limited to fans, USB ports, the screen, the speaker, mouse pad, etc. The dust particles can affect the contact point with the board.

WHAT TO DO
Clean clean clean
What is the best weapon against dirt? Cleaning! Ensure the vents are clean. If you can, create a routine for cleaning your computer, disassemble your computer carefully and using a very soft brush, gently brush off the dusts outdoors or if you want to be professional head to eBay and purchase this computer air blower for just 30 bucks, with this you might not need to dismantle your computer to blow away the dusts. Just position the nozzle of the blower to the vents and connect the blower to the mains and within seconds, your computer is back to operating normal and clean again.

Mind the environment

Your environment(s) can also dictate how long your computer can last. You need to be mindful of the environment you operate your PC. Dusty environment is not PC friendly and even if you can't help it, then you need to up your cleaning routines. We need to learn to be kind to our computers as they too needs care even if we have the money to buy dozens. #computing
