Stem cell research is outlawed in the, United States, but in other parts of the world a new age of medical enlightenment is emerging.
Stem cells, are cells found in adult humans and embryos and are the foundation of keeping a body healthy by dividing as needed to repair or build our bodies.
Some media reports have been exaggerated to make it sound as though stem cells are more powerful that what they are at the moment. Like any new scientific discovery, the effects aren't fully known. What we do know is that we have seen a glimpse of the future.
The best defined use of stem cells today are blood stem cells. They are designed to help purify blood born diseases and illnesses. Some bone, eye and skin diseases can be treated by grafting tissue or implanting tissues then the stem cells go to work helping to heal the patient. All other procedures haven't been proven in a clinical environment just yet, so proceed with caution. (SOURCE)
Many people have expressed outrage or dismay over the use of embryo stem cells and it's largely the result of misinformation from politicians and religious organizations that don't fully understand the science. Embryo stem cells come from unfertilized eggs that have then been fertilized in vitro, in a clinical environment. You can read more about it HERE.
Although not all uses are known yet, we do know that stem cells are found in every major part of our bodies including our heart and brain. Obviously, that has hugh implications for future procedures and possible developing organs to support life and aid in transplant.
Check out a few clips from, Joe Rogan below. He's a huge supporter and fan of stem cells and had procedures done on his knew and shoulder and swears by the medical treatment. He even claims in one video that a woman with bladder cancer had a whole bladder regenerated with her stem cells. The videos are under 5 minutes and well worth the watch.
This video is 17 minutes long
