Hello and Welcome to the First Steemy Awayds
It is time for the community to get together in an event that will recognise and reward People in different areas of expertise.
What are the Steemy Awards?
It is an Award created by the People for the People. Everyone in the community will have a Word on picking the Winners and Everyone's Vote will be counted the same way.
No matter if You are a Whale or You just joined You will be able to be part of the ceremony. And also Your vote will worth the same no matter is Your influence in the community. The Steemy Awards are here to give You a voice.
How many and which Steemy Awards will be delivered?
For the 2017 Steemy Awards the community will be recognising People in 10 diffirent categories and they are:

How it will work?
The Steemy Awards are separated in 2 rounds.
The 1st Round the community will be picking 5 nominees.
In the 2nd round You will be choosing the winner in each category from the 5 nominess You have picked earlier.
1st Round
In the 1st Round a total of 10 posts will be created. One for each category.
To get nominated YOU need to leave a comment on the category post You are running for using the proper hashtag, for example: "Running for #photographysteemyaward and I am a model".
You CAN'T nominate other People. If You want to see someone running for that category You will have to invite them to go to the post and leave their nomination.
The 5 nominees will be the 5 comments with the most upvotes (not the highest payout).
And that 5 People You choose will be the 5 that will go to the 2nd round.
2nd Round
Now that You have picked Your 5 nominees it is time to pick The Winner.
In this 2nd round 10 new posts will be created announcing the 5 nominees for each category.
There will be an external link for a Poll where You need to go and vote for Your Favourite user to win in each category.
Once again the most voted nominee it will be the Winner and get the tittle and the Award in each category.
The Prize and the Dates
Promote, recognise and Reward the Amazing members of Steemit is the Goal of the Steemy Awards.
The Prizes
- During the 1st Round all the nominees will stack all the SBD and Steem Power from the votes on their comments (so the more You promote Yourself the more You will win)
On the 2nd round where the 5 nominees in every category will be head to head each Winner will Win 100% of the SBD from the post of his/her category.
The Dates
This is the 2017 Steemy Awards so Everything is about to happen. Are You ready?
- 1st Round - From the 3rd to the 10th of December
- 2nd Round - From the 10th to the 17th of December
- Announcement of the Winners - The 18th of December

I participated in it once, but they happen at least once a week, I believe, you get the opportunity to discuss your post with people in the lounge, share ideas, answer questions (if any) etc, and you get upvotes too haha. Everyone was friendly and welcoming too, it was nice.
Oh yeah, it is on voice chat, but I guess if you don't have a mic, you could still type.
Cool. Well probably by 00.00 tomorrow i will be on the bus on my way home from work. So lets see how it goes lololol anyway some people have been nice already upvoting. And resteeming. I am so happy with it ❤
You could still probably listen or keep an eye out for your name to show up in the chat, I am not sure how many people will join in tomorrow, it's probably gonna last an hour or 2, or less, like I said it depends on the amount of people taking part.
Anyway, I figured it would be a good way to bring attention to what you're trying to do!

Hope you found someone t support this - my influence is simply limited - great idea still - just read we need to nominate ourselves...hmmm - apart from the challenges thing #challengesteemyaward (I create some challenges such as #SunThursday #BeachWednesday as well as #MetalMonday or #charityweekly originally and tried to gave all of them an overview.
However I think most relevant for me by my heart for music is my #Danceweekend so I would love to contribute to #musicsteemyaward

I like to be with the #challengeconteststeemyawards as I do the #beersaturday challenge where we motivate people to do some nice and quality content arount beer. I run this since 25 weeks and it eats a lot of time but generate even more fun.

Hey this is a great idea and I might be able to help. Instead off doing the voting externally lets do this on the Steem blockchain. I can mostly like work something out that enables people to vote in post with their comments.
That sounds great like a good idea. I have just choose to do this way for the second round. Because there is no way i can assure that the 5 nominees will be as top comments on the 2nd round posts. But i think that would be a great idea to promote more engagement and more rewards for the participants. How can we talk about that?????

There was actually a Golden Steem Awards during the first SteemFest. As for the term "Steemy", it's not that discussed nowadays but a few months ago there was a huge outcry about it because there was this thing where a Steemian was pitted against another in a battle of physical attractiveness. There were people who chose sides, and there were people who protested the inappropriateness of the whole thing. Eventually the protesters won and the initiative was shut down. I know it's not connected to this, but I just wanted to do a Steemit history lesson haha! Shows my Steemit age.
Anyway, best of luck with this! I'm all for any initiative that seeks to highlight accomplishments :D

When it comes to the name choice I guess I have lost already the attention of half of the community right? Lol well what I can say is: bad luck for them. Because this awards are going to be a success (I only can hope lol) and the main goal are to promote and reward members on the community so they will be the ones losing.

Already thinking of a venue haha awesome! With your enthusiasm, I'm sure that this is going to be a success. I think most people have already forgotten about that debacle or because of the the disconnect between this and the previous issue, they don't even associate it, so I don't think you lost any attention.
Get sponsorships from whales to boost the prize pool and attract more attention. The thing is, there has already been awards like these in the past, so if you could think of a way to make this pop or give it a unique twist, it'll be all the better for it. I've just made a post, so I don't normally resteem so close, but I would do so in the next days to give this added exposure.
We gotta think big right??? And I have so many ideas for the ceremony. Thinking about hosts, entertainment acts, livestream all over the platforms, fire works, foos, alcohol. I dont accept anything less than an Oscars ceremony. Eheheheh 😃😃 thank you so much for your support. Means the world. Do I need to use the tag #challengeconteststeemyawards on the bottom of the post because if so this one won't work because it has too many characters

That point number one is a good catch. But you dont need to use the hashtag on the bar. Because ypu wont be dping any post. I will be creating the categories post an you just need to leave a comment.
When it comes to using the hashtag on the comment when you are entering one category it is just for stats and trending reasons.
I will be reading ypur post properly later because now i am at work. But fpr what i see you are not a contest/challenge creator and that category it is for creators of the contest challenges. Ypu prpbably can enter on the blogging category. Because fpr what i saw of the post it is a very well done post. But later tonight i will review it, comment and resteem 😁😁
oh okay know I get it much better and understand a lot more. I only have one of my own challenges that I am the initiator of titled #foodview that happens on the first of each month but is not that popular. so I guess I will edit my post to change what I am entering unless of course you decide to add contestants to the challenge and contest section. And I will just wait to see the post
For this year Steemy awards I think that won't be included. But You can enter in both categories as a blogger, because You are a great blogger and also as a contest creator with your foodview contest 😃 no matter how popular it is.
