China built almost 1.5 acres solar panel roadway, and it opened to driving over it the traffic ,car , truck and buses and also generating electricity.
It located at the capital city of Shandong . The road surfaces allow the sun to penetrate on it , it made of transparent . The panel covering 5875 meter and it can generate 1 million kwh per year, it's enough to supply to 800 household everyday .
According to the project developer ,
The project will save space for building solar farms and shorten transmission the distance .
Electricity that produce by the test section will be use as the highway lights, signboard, surveillance cameras, tunnel and toll gates. Meanwhile , the surplus power will be supplied to the state grid.
There also future function planned include mobile charging for electric car and also providing internet connection . The road was designed to have 20 years life, there 3 layers consist a concrete layer previous to light on top thin amorphous silicon panels. In the middles, there a waterproof insulates and protection layer at the bottom.
The top layer has good flexibility which can withstand pressure from a large vehicle and also prevent the amorphous silicon at the beneath fragile.e.
The cost is not revealed but the project developer said that it was of the similar project that in the forcouncountry. With this solar panel develop, meant, it can reduce the further cost.

Pretty cool :) They have to add induction loops to charge e-cars driving on it and it would be perfect :)
Yup ! Great project ..but there also several risk.. Such snow and theft ..
Yup! Thats right.
Probably not very smart for busy streets, but especially for streets that aren't used that often and lay most of the day in sunlight an expensive but good idea.
Thank you for sharing this!
Thanks for reading bro :) thanks for yr opinion . Maybe it can be less efficient if there are mass traffic jam .
