How far are we from being able to build a real functional teleporter?

Who did not dreamed as a child or even greater when pressing a button and appear at the other end of the galaxy? Philip Hopkins, a physicist who works at Caltech, has it clear. It is totally impossible today for instant transport through space. Why? Because our bodies would have to transform themselves into energy and then return to their corporeal form without there being the slightest mishap. Can you imagine that you come back and appear without a kidney or with an eye on the knee?

Hopkins believes that even if we combined the full capacity of each of the computers available today, and that could hold only a fraction of data from a single human, teleportation would remain impossible, unfeasible and, ultimately, a dream banned from Science fiction. It is not easy to outsmart the energy.

Can we ever teleport our bodies?

As we can see, it is not that we are far from building a real functional teletransporter, it is that we are light years away, and not a few precisely, but perhaps thousands. Maybe we can not do it ever, at least with the physical laws of this universe. Perhaps in another within a multiverse it would be very easy, but that is speculation and metaphysics.

However, Facebook's technical director, Mike Schoepfer, seems to have a plan to achieve the longed for human teleportation, although it is not what it seems.

That is to say, what they seek is to be fully aware within a virtual world capable of deceiving their own senses.

Although it is not wrong to create a virtual world in which to interact with environments and objects, it is not the same as being able to teleport in reality, no matter how real the experience is.
