My day 2 of the basic offshore safety Induction and emergency training (BOSIET ) was scheduled for sea survival and self rescue.
There are different ways of evacuating and offshore location during emergencies. The primary method which comprise of the helicopter rescue and the walkway. Other methods can be totally enclosed motor propelled survival craft (TEMPSC) and knotted rope.
There are various emergencies that could occur in an offshore location which include fire outbreak, blowout, structure failure, collision and many others. There are also different alarm systems in the offshore location: toxic gas alarm, general platform alarm, prepare to abandon Alarm. During sea survival tertiary escape means may include ropes, stairways, personal descender, life raft and others. A search and rescue (SAR) party is being sent to an offshore location in any emergency situation.
During an emergency a survival chain is very important, because when group of people are in a chain, they can be easily spotted by a search and rescue party.
Thank you FALCK for this training. I really gained a lot from the experience. Thanks to my industrial training company for the opportunity given to me.
