Yeah, "the canyon on Mars makes the Grand canyon look like a small crack" . This was what the narrator said when I had watched a documentary on Mars on National Geographic, many years back.

The canyon spans 4000 kms.

On Mount Olympus, I have a different theory. See the water on Mars is gone so the mount is measured from the bottom to the top. On the other hand, Mount Everest is measured from mean sea level to the top. If we measure it from the bottom of the sea to the top, will it still be 1/3 rd the height? Just curious.
