What an enlightening article.. When you smash protons together is it likely that you can get the same type of particle twice, or each new smashing produces something new.

I am not sure to have understood correctly the question. Let me try to answer. If this is not what you want to know, please re-ask :D

Once two protons are smashed, they are smashed and destroyed. You cannot collider them a second time. Each collision involves different pairs of protons.
