Hello steemians, how's it going? k-banti is here again. Your one and only lover of electronics. I'm going to be sharing with you the basic electronic components meant to be known before working on any electronic circuit. Below are sixteen(16) basic electronic components with their symbolic diagram and component diagram. I will also briefly describe what they are amd what they are used for. Now let's begin.

1. RESISTOR

A resistor is a component that resists the flow of current. It’s one of the most basic components used in electronic circuits. Resistors come in a variety of resistance values (how much they resist current, measured in units called ohms and designated by the symbol Ω and power ratings (how much power they can handle without burning up, measured in watts).

2. CAPACITOR

Capacitor is probably the second most commonly used component in electronic circuits. A capacitor is a device that can temporarily store an electric charge. Capacitors come in several different varieties, the two most common being ceramic disk and electrolytic. The amount of capacitance of a given capacitor is measured in Farads designated by the symbol F.

3. DIODE

A diode is a device that lets current flow in only one direction. A diode has two terminals, called the anode and the cathode. Current will flow through the diode only when positive voltage is applied to the anode and negative voltage to the cathode. If these voltages are reversed, current will not flow.

4. LIGHT EMITTING DIODE

A light-emitting diode (LED) is a special type of diode that emits light when current passes through it. It is usually used as an indicator.

5. TRANSISTOR

A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical power. It is composed of semiconductor material usually with at least three terminals commonly called Base, Emitter, and Collector used for connection to an external circuit.

6. ANTENNA

An antenna is a transducer that converts radio frequency (RF) fields into alternating current or vice versa. There are both receiving and transmission antennas for sending or receiving radio transmissions. Antennas play an important role in the operation of all radio equipment. They are used in wireless local area networks, mobile telephony and satellite communication.

7. MICROPHONE

A microphone, colloquially nicknamed mic or mike, is a transducer that converts sound into an electrical signal.

8. LOUDSPEAKER

A loudspeaker is an electroacoustic transducer which converts an electrical audio signal into a corresponding sound.

9. RELAY SWITCH

Relays are switches that open and close circuits electromechanically or electronically. Relays control one electrical circuit by opening and closing contacts in another circuit. There is an open contact when the relay is not energized.

10. TRANSFORMER

A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits through electromagnetic induction. It can also be said to be an electrical device that steps-up an steps-down electrical current.

11. BRIDGE RECTIFIER

A bridge rectifier is a type of full wave rectifier which uses four or more diodes to efficiently convert AC to DC.

12. FUSE

A fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide over current protection in a circuit. It's an essential component that must be present in both Electrical and Electronic appliances.

13. BATTERY

A battery is a device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections provided to power electrical devices.

14. INDUCTOR

An inductor, also called a coil, choke or reactor, is a passive two-terminal electrical component that stores electrical energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it.

15. SWITCH

A switch is an electronic component or device that can switch an electrical circuit, interrupting the current or diverting it from one conductor to another.

16. INTEGRATED CIRCUIT

An integrated circuit is a special component that contains an entire electronic circuit, complete with transistors, diodes, and other elements, all photographically etched onto a tiny piece of silicon.

If you can get yourself familiar with these 16 basic electronic components listed above, you are just a step closer to building any electronic circuit of your choice.
