The PGA shifts to the East Coast this week for the Honda Classic at PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This venue is one of the top five most difficult venues on tour, regularly holding the winner to single digits under par.
Justin Thomas (6-1 odds according to bovada.com) opens up as this year’s favorite to win. Although he failed to make the cut last year, he finished in third place in 2016 He is in good form, finishing last week’s Genesis open inside the top 10.
Rickie Fowler (9-1) is the defending champion of the Honda Classic. He is also in good form heading into this year’s event amassing a first, second, and fourth place finish in five events to start the extended 2017-2018 season. He has also made the cut for this event every year since 2012, almost assuring that he will be in contention come Sunday.
Rory McIlroy (10-1) enters his third event of the year coming off a 20th place finish at the Genesis Open. McIlroy has not fared well the past three years in this event. He did not play in this event in 2017, and was cut in 2016 and 2015. However, when his game is in good shape, he has dominated this event, winning it all in 2012 and finishing runner up in 2014.
Tiger Woods (20-1) has possibly his best chance thus far to make some noise considering Woods resides only a few miles from this week’s venue. He has the comfort of his own home on his side and he has fared well in this event, in limited starts, most recently finishing runner up in 2012.
