The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 122-103 in game 2 of their NBA finals match on Sunday night. Curry outdueled LeBron James as the two former MVP’s trade d big buckets but Curry finished with a bigger night. Curry played one of his best games in the finals recording an NBA Finals record 9 three-pointers and scoring a total of 33 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. It was a pretty special night for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors as they slowed down LeBron James finishing with only 29 points, 9 rebounds, 13 assists and 2 steals compared to his 51-point performance in Game 1. Kevin Love also played well but not enough finishing with a double-double 22 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. LeBron and Love got some much needed help from their teammates and gave them double digits. George Hill scored 15 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while Tristan Thompson had 11 points and 5 boards. But still that wasn’t enough as the Golden State Warriors were very consistent and improved defensively against LeBron James. But still LeBron shot 50 percent from the field despite the much improve and tighter defense.
Kevin Durant did what he always does as he finished the game off with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocks putting in much effort for the defensive assignments against LeBron. He handled the load of defending LeBron with the best LeBron defender, Andre Iguodala was still out due to injury. The Cleveland Cavaliers will be more comfortable in Game 3 because they will play at home but James said, “We want to continue to be uncomfortable, just because we’re going home doesn’t mean we can relax”. It’s true that the Cavs played better and relax at home but you can never be relax when you’re down 2-0 in the finals. There must be some thought in their head that they might be swept by the Golden State Warriors. Game 3 is on Wednesday night in Cleveland as the Cavs now will try to get some momentum.
The game heated when James argued a non-call on Curry who ran beneath him and didn’t let him land with more than three minutes remaining as LeBron caught Loves touchdown pass and he went out of bounds. He and Coach Ty Lue were very upset with the officials and they felt the same like in game 1 as the refs favored the Warriors. Coach Lue didn’t say much but was on the court so he picked up a technical foul. Another bad call was called against the Cavs when Curry hits a three-pointer plus a foul and completes a four-point play. But when you look at the replay, there was no contact at all but Kevin Love was called for a foul.
People said that 2 or 3 bad calls wouldn’t help the Cavs win this game. Even if that bad call was called in favor of the Cavs they will still lose the Game because the Warriors were much ahead. But people do not understand what they were saying. Calls like that can change momentum, and when momentum was changed, the flow of the game also changes. The Cavaliers could get the momentum if a foul was called on Curry during the touchdown pass from Love to James. The Cavs could have the opportunity to get some momentum on that occasion and cut the deficit. They can also have much confidence if they were able to cut the deficit during that time. But that call stops the momentum and leaves frustration to the Cavs players and also degrading their confidence. Same thing would happen in the four-point play incident with Love fouling Curry connecting the and-one. This series would be tough especially for Cleveland as they were thinking of being swept right now. If they lose the next game, its game over, but if they win they can have the momentum and try to even the series at 2-2 at home. This became more exciting because of Game 1, the Cavs proves that they can compete against this powerhouse Warriors team and the Warriors cannot easily win the Championship. However, the next game will be the most critical and the most important. I bet James will make his teammates better at home and they will win Game 3. He must make the most out of his teammates at home to get the win and threaten the Warriors. The shooters, Kyle Korver and JR Smith must show up in the next games and Love should also be consistent as well as James to still have a chance to win it. Game 3 is on Wednesday night in Cleveland.

I think this game will be do or die for Cavs . Those guys have to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor. I expect a tough game and look forward to see how it pays out.
