Match Presentation
The first semifinal of the Confederations Cup 2017 will feature the two strongest candidates to win this competition, Portugal and Chile. Portugal will arrive into this game being the team with the best offense and that is demonstrated by their 3 wins and 7 goals, while Chile struggled to arrive here with a victory and two draws to 1 goal.
Portugal
In the group stage, Portugal demonstrated how they are the European champions, after starting with a difficult tie against Mexico, where they couldn't keep control of the ball, for the majority of the game, but, at the end they managed to draw a tie that counted as a victory in the final minutes of the match, after that they won by the minimum (1-0) against the home team, Russia, to finally close the group phase with a resounding victory by 4 goals against the Australians.
The Lusos closed the group stage as the team with the most goals at 7, and this is not surprising, since among their ranks they have the best forward and possibly best player in the world and strongest candidate for the Balon d'Or, Cristiano Ronaldo, that along with players like André Silva, Bernardo Silva, and Quaresma present the most dangerous attack, in my opinion.
But as we all know, a great team cannot win a competition like this only by attacking, they have a great defense that helped to overcome difficult times in the competition, like in the beginning of the match against New Zealand where the two central defenders and goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, played a key role in keeping the arc at zero, to give the tranquility to rest of the team to attack later, without the pressure of being down on the scoreboard. In short, the success of this team is in appreciation to the great collective work played by the 11 players in the field. Remarkable.
Remarcable.
For this match, the team will not have available players: Cedric Soares (Right Back, Injured), Bernardo Silva (Right Wing, Injured), and Pepe (Centre Back, Card Suspension) and the expected line up is the 4-4-2 formation.
Chile
The Chilean team came to this competition as one of the favorites to win it, the team who is led by the DT, Juan Antonio Pizzi, holds the honorable title, Champions of America, a title won in 2015 and renewed in 2016. Peculiar circumstance, because the first title is from the Cup of America, regularly celebrated by the Conmebol, while the second one was disputed as an especial occasion commemorating the centenary of this competition. The point I'm trying to make is that the squad will arrive to this match in excellent shape, due to the great level of soccer they have demonstrated for the past couple years, obtaining these two titles where they had to compete with the national teams where play the majority of the best players in the world, as they are Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Uruguay.
This group of players always play with great intensity on the field, pressing their opponents from the beginning of each encounter, and the style is implemented by Jorge San Paoli and continued by Pizzi, and because of this, we have been able to observe an evident physical wear that hasn't allowed Chile to maintain such intensity during all the group stage matches, and there is proof of this in the fact that they only won their first match against Cameroon, but tied against Germany and suffered with Australia to get a draw, when they were the clear favorites to win it from the start.
The situation does not look very encouraging for the Chilean team, but we must remember that they have players like Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sánchez, who may present an obvious physical wear for the demanding season that they have been through with their local and national teams, but great players like them live to play games like this.
The DT will have all his players available for this match and the team is expected to line up with a 4-3-3 formation.

This semi-final presents a mandatory soccer game to watch. To go to the final two countries between Portugal and Chile must beat each other. In portugal can be said to be represented by c.ronaldo and chile represented sanchez. They are both most prominent.
But i support chile, because the formation and some players are more fitting and solid
This will be a great match to start the semifinals! Portugal and Chile are so good and so competitive, that I can see this game going the distance. I can't wait to watch it tomorrow and look forward to two great teams battling it out. Thanks for the update :)
Great post! hoping for Chile to win!
My predictions portugal vs chile 2: 1 score
