The debate continues as to who would be the 2017/2018 King of Paris St Germain’s Parc des Prince.
Edinson Cavani was under the shadow of the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic since joining PSG from Napoli in 2013. Ibrahimovic more often than not had the free-kick and penalty duties and was top scorer until the end of the 2014/2015 season, when he left for Manchester United. Cavani managed 25 goals and 5 assists that same season.
Zlatan’s departure provided an opportunity for Edinson Cavani to take over the reins and shine for PSG, and he did that in the 2016/2017 season, scoring 48 goals and adding 5 assists in all competitions for the Parisian side.
Neymar faced similar challenges at Barcelona, finding himself behind Messi and Suarez in the statistics charts. He managed to score 13 goals and assists his teammates 11 times in all competitions for Barcelona in the 2016/2017 season. In 2015/2016 season his numbers were much better - 24 goals and 12 assists.

For 2017/2018 season, Neymar arrived at PSG for a world record fee, as the most expensive player ever (£200mill). Neymar desires the penalty kick responsibility, but Edinson Cavani has a different opinion on this matter.
A weird situation emerged during the PSG and Lyon clash. Neymar and Cavani had a weird moment with regards to who should take the penalty kick. Cavani had his way but missed the penalty as Lyon's keeper, Anthony Lopes, made a tremendous save.
It was reported by French newspapers that the argument on who should be the club’s penalty taker didn’t end on the pitch, as Neymar and Cavani still went at it in the dressing room.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi eventually waded into the matter after a meeting with both players. It was decided that Edinson Cavani would remain the club’s penalty taker.
