Iniesta to retire from Spain national team after World Cup 2018

in #steemsports7 years ago

It highly possible that Barcelona captain and legend Andres Iniesta could end his career in the Spain national team after the upcoming World Cup. Iniesta will be 34 by the time of the World Cup and he agrees his best days are behind him and this is what could lead to this decision.

Iniesta also said that he doesn't want to be part of the team because of his name. He hopes he could end his career with the World Cup title and his ideal opponent to be Argentina.

The legendary midfielder has 123 appearances for the international team and has won 2 European Championships and 1 World Cup with 13 goals scored for Spain. He is also won the UEFA Euro Player of the Tournament in 2012 and was chosen in the UEFA Euro All-time XI. In his teenage years, he also won the 2001UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the 2002 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

it's a shame when legendary players like him doesnt have a Ballon d'or.

This would be a legendary end for the captain.
