Aliko Dangote plans to sack Arsene Wenger if he takes over the club.
The Nigerian, who is Africa’s richest man, is said to be planning a takeover bid once construction of an oil refinery in Lagos is completed.
He is confident he could convince current majority shareholders American Stan Kroenke, who owns around 66% of the club, and Uzbek-born Russian Alisher Usmanov who earns 30% of the club to walk away from the club with the right offer.
Dangote has been quoted as saying:
“The first thing I would change is the coach, He has done a good job, but someone else should also try his luck.”
I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand I tend to agree that there needs to be a changing of the guard but the wording of his statement gives the impression that some coach from god knows where will be given the chance to "try his luck" at Arsenal.
I am all for change but there needs to be succession planning and I hope that that was a major factor in the current board extending Wenger's contract.
Personally I would prefer Alisher Usmanov taking over the club as he appears to be a genuine Arsenal supporter and a shrewd business man.
PSG & Man City have raised the bar and in order to buy and keep our best players we will need someone that is willing to pay top dollar.
That's my 2cents, what so you think?
Are you happy with the current owner or who would you like to see taking over the Arsenal?
