England in New Zealand: Joe Root 226 sets up tourists' victory push

Captain Joe Root made a double century but England face an uphill task to win the second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Root's painstaking 226 from 441 balls and 75 from Ollie Pope helped England to 476 and a first-innings lead of 101.

The Black Caps fell to 28-2 but Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor guided them to 96-2 at the close of day four, trailing by only five runs.

England must win at Seddon Park to draw the two-Test series.

Weather may be England's biggest obstacle, with rain forecast for much of the final day.

"The two worst detectives working in New York!"

As BBC boxing correspondent Mike Costello and pundit Steve Bunce reflect on the June night that changed the boxing landscape, they curse the fact they didn't piece together clues to see it coming.

Kevin Barry did.

He said people were "kidding themselves" in writing Andy Ruiz Jr off before his fight with unbeaten world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Here Barry - trainer of former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker - tells BBC Sport why he was influenced by his "history" with Ruiz, explains why the champion's style creates panic, and predicts who will win Saturday's rematch in Saudi Arabia.

Lewis Hamilton dominates in Abu Dhabi GP for 11th victory of the season

S5.jpg

Lewis Hamilton dominated the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to end the season in which he won a sixth world drivers' title on a high.

The Mercedes driver led away from pole position and cruised off into the distance, untroubled by anyone behind.

In a soporific race, Red Bull's Max Verstappen took a comfortable second after Ferrari slipped backwards.

Charles Leclerc ran second in the early laps, ahead of Verstappen, but slipped back to third.

Leclerc held off an attack from Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas in the closing stages, the Finn right on his gearbox on the final lap, after an excellent race from the back of the grid.
