Silver Art Bar- Spirit of '76

If I had to guess, I'm going to say @silversaver888 is going to like this one. This bar comes from the Patrick Mint located in San Francisco. Looks like they have been around since 1957 and are still going strong. Check out their stuff here. Welcome to the Patrick Mint home page..

This bar came in 2 variations. Mine happens to be 2V. You can see the Reverse of the bar is different. This info from River City Coins

Obverse

On the Obverse, or front, you can see it depicts three soldiers of the American Revolutionary War. They're carrying their instruments and the recently deemed racist Betsy Ross Flag. How racist of them to be so American.

Reverse

The reverse of this coin came in 2 variations as seen above. I personally like the version I have better.

Here is the info I found on the bar, a little about the Spirit of 76 and a cool quote from Thomas Jefferson.

Year: 1973
Mint: Patrick Mint
Name: Spirit of '76
Series: PAT-2V

Spirit of 76

While researching this bar I found some pretty cool info. I'd seen the picture before but didn't know much about it. It actually started out as a painting called "Yankee Doodle Dandy".

The piece was commissioned by artist and northern Civil War veteran Archibald Willard in 1875. It's new name was acquired during it's Boston visit for the Centennial Exposition.

Another great thing I found while learning about this coin was this Thomas Jefferson quote from the UNESCO site.

"The principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence promised to lead America—and other nations on the globe—into a new era of freedom. The revolution begun by Americans on July 4, 1776, would never end. It would inspire all peoples living under the burden of oppression and ignorance to open their eyes to the rights of mankind, to overturn the power of tyrants, and to declare the triumph of equality over inequality."

That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed the random facts I found while searching for info on this bar. @stokjockey please let me know if you have the mintage on this bar. I couldn't find it.

Thanks for reading!
