Limited Royal Canadian Mint/eBay 10 Ounce Silver Bar .9999

in #steemsilvergold7 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone! Hope that everyone in the #steemsilvergold group is well and has been adding more silver to the stack.

I picked up this RCM silver 10 oz bar a couple of years back, but don't think that I have ever shown it on Steemit?

I was curious if others in the #ssg group picked up any of these as well? They were a pretty big deal, since it was the first time that eBay collaborated with a Mint to make a limited silver bar.

I forget the exact mintage, but it is 6 digits. I know that I have seen many higher numbers. This one is a lower serial number (#4523).

The lower serial numbers bring a pretty nice premium, considering that spot price is being suppressed so much lately!

I like to collect what I call "crossover" bullion.
Basically bars, rounds, and medals that appeal to more than just one group of collectors.

Ex: Lots of eBay buyers/sellers would like a 10 oz RCM/eBay bar......gun rounds and bars with specific brand names....vintage Casino rounds....trademark company advertising silver like Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser, Harley Davidson, Ohio State Buckeyes, Mac Tools, specific military ships, small town Sesquintennials, ect ect.

With these I am not totally dependant upon spot price, if I decide to sell them - plus I am really increasing my potential buyers. Many times you are selling this bar to a guy that just loves Harleys or Case XX pocket knives, and could care less what the spot price is today. He just wants that bar.

When I do sell one of these items, the "premium" is also invested right back into silver. So I turn my little 1 ounce round into hopefully 2 ounces (or more) of something less desirable.

I once almost passed on a 1 Ounce ship round, because $3.50 over spot seemed a little steep and it was slightly scruffy.

Lucky for me I bought it, and it was sold about 10 minutes after I listed it. A buyer contacted me and asked if I would "consider" taking $275 for it. He collected memorabilia from that ship and didn't know that a commemorative was made in the 1950's. Yes, I considered that very briefly 😊

I've never seen one before. Thanks for sharing. I like when they have serial numbers. Followed resteemed

Yes indeed I agree with you that it is an amazing bar!

The Royal Canadian mint bars are nice. I own a few w/out ebay on them. They're are more impressive when you hold it in your hands.

Yep, I have always liked RCM bars too @firecajun9262!

It’s a beauty.

My buddy at the LCS said there were a lot of those goin around that are fake

Could be. Mine came direct from the Royal Candian Mint presale...so I know it's a good one. It wouldn't surprise me though, with all the fake Prospectors and everything else flowing in by the cargo container from China.

Yup! I had got 10 last week and he was telling me the story. Of course the ones I boughtvwere tested lol

That’s a cool collector bar! Great share man!

That's a cool one. But to be honest i thought ebay was dead. I didn't know people would make a mint with it on it. But that's great! keep collecting bro!

Most of your larger silver bullion companies have an eBay presence. JM Bullion, Apmex, SGB, ect. You can sometimes buy from them at a lower price on eBay than their actual website, due to competition and free shipping.

Interesting.. i used to do a lot of ebay years amd years ago likr over a decade ago but they started charging so much to sell and limited the amount you can make so i havent been back

Yes, fees are ridiculous. They cut the fees for the big companies, thats how they can sell cheaper.

These are definitely neat. I've seen then but don't have one.

I remember all the buzz when these came out and they sold out pretty quick. I never did pull the trigger though.

I bought 5 pre-sale, and have traded all but this one. Thanks for checking it out @phelimint
