RE: Why is Gold Worthless?

Yep gold is nothing more than a store of wealth ,helped by its rarity in the earths crust and how much work goes into extracting and refining it .But silver is a whole different ball game ,it has hundreds of different uses in energy medicineand electronics and will no doubt become even more useful and more valuable going into the future , it is probably rarer now than gold and is largely a bi product of the mining of other metals. But as you say i wouldnt recommend eating either in large quanities.

I think a lot of people just don't understand that most of golds worth is not because it's yellow and shiny, but most of it's worth comes from all the work to create that bar or coin. Cheers

And similar to silver the work to extract gold from the ground is increasing as the most easy to get gold is mined first.

That's true, with inflation constantly increasing costs the price has to go up just so the mines can stay in business. Cheers
