Best pick of the day from Local Coin Shop. She was mixed in with junk box dimes. I am guessing it is at least extra fine. She was minted during the Great Depression, in 1938, just before World War Two. One could speculate why she fell out of circulation. Maybe she got lost in a sofa and stayed there for many years. Who knows how she turned back up. Thanks for looking and keep stacking.
Take care 🥰🌺🤙Nice, @cve!
Thanks for looking, silversaver888.
I am not a GRADING EXPERT but the Merc Dime is AU (Almost Uncirculated) I have seen enough of them to know.......
Thanks for the insight, Stokjockey. AU, that's even better.
The details of this dime are very nice. I have a pair of them that I made into earrings with bezels to suspend them in. Very nice find!
Thanks for looking, Elizabethbit. Mercury Dime earrings, what a great idea.

Here's the link to my post for the earrings. Have a lovely evening and keep on stackin'!
Nice, very creative, Elizabethbit.
Thanks @cve3! Have a good night!
A very good find! It is a fabulous sensation to find silver.

Yes, some are like finding little works of art. Thanks, Ronaldoavelino
I think I would grade this dime higher, I have seen these graded as fine, and the hair isn't this defined....But I'm no expert....She's a very good find my friend!!🤗
Thanks for looking and your expertise, Silvertop.
I've always admired the Mercury dime, funny how these days I can't help but see Pagan fascism symbols. I believe the great depression was the fertile ground for the formation of what we call today "the deep state". Still, a nice piece of history recorded in this coin.

Thanks for looking, Ironshield. Wow, I Googled Mercury dimes and Fascism. Lots of information. I never knew.
"in the junk box" !? Awesome find!
Thanks for looking, Summertooth. Yes, the Local Coin Shop has a high volume and they don't have time to sift through everything. No room in the display cases either.
Amazing. I just can't get over how nice that dime looks.
Great condition \o/
Thanks, Coindevil. Thanks for looking.
In 1938 this dime may have bought you a decent meal, nothing culinary, at a decent diner.
Thanks for looking Kerrislravenhill. Yes, money was real and hard to come by, in the 1938 Depression Era. Mom told me that Grandma paid for about ten kids' admission to the opening of the classic Oscar-Winning movie "Gone With The Wind." It was over 80 years ago, in 1939. Tickets were five cents each. And Grandma, a house cleaning maid, paid with about fifty old Indian Head pennies/cents she collected out of her change. Oh, and Academy Award Winning Actress Olivia de Havilland is still alive and active at 103 years old.
