There are characteristics in Korean stone monument. The body has the important meaning of the historic record, and the bottom and the head are of the importance in art.
The monument for the great master monk seems to have very important in both points. The body was preserved relatively very well, it was in the good condition and the specialists could read the context of the monument.
The second thing in this monument must be looking at it in the view of the art. In my guess, the sculptures of the bottom and the head were very nice works comparing to other works in this period.
The head of the turtle was very well carved without any exaggeration like other works in this period. The head of the turtle was very natural and it reminded me of the works of Shilla dynasty. Strangely enough, the Buddhist art works in Shilla were better than those of Goryeo dynasty which was established after the collapse of Shilla dynasty.
The head part of the monument was very well preserved. The sculpture of the dragons was very well made.

good post, great job
What beautiful works of art they are!
The stone monuments are luckily robust and many of them survive until our days. Looking at the heads of the turtle and the dragon they are beautifully carved with a lot of beautiful details. I can imagine that they are important and favorite among artists.
Congratulations @slowwalker!
