My last couple of posts have been exploring steem activity in the UK.
It ain't big, and it ain't pretty.
For many it has been downright shocking. For a few it's an opportunity...
We have now found almost 100 active steemians in the United Kingdom.
That is just over one active steemian per 1 million population.
That's not critical mass. That's not on the edge of a breakthrough.
That's virgin territory and we've work to do.
We've got to be smart. We've got to be clever.
We've got to be resourceful, committed, brimful of new ideas, chomping at the bit.
We've got to take to the streets, shout from the rooftops, look for opportunities in every nook and granny.
We want mushy steem with our fish and chips, we want Big Ben to go boing, boing, steem.
We want the BBC to announce "Here is the Nine O'Clock Steem", we want the Queen to say "Arise Sir Steem".
We want Steem to be great in Britain.
Bring on the United Kingdom of Steem...

I'm all in. Steem is too important, too vital, too special to let it wither away and die.
We need to organise, we need to brainstorm, we need to coordinate, we need to make a plan.
It's up to us. The cavalry is not coming over the hill. And the reinforcements from head office never got the memo.
So let's get the balls rolling, and talk.

Aw... I missed this as I was away on a residential course for most of last week, with no time for internet use! Hopefully there'll be another opportunity to participate. I'm heading off tomorrow for part 2 of the same course, but I'll be back on Thursday or Friday next week so I'll try and catch up then :)

I already run a hillwalking Meetup group, and I keep meaning to start a Steemit one, but I haven't taken the plunge yet, mainly because when I tell people about Steemit, I find that they just don't "get" it. Which is why I need to start a Steemit Meetup group I guess!
I remembered two more for you, @eveningart and @pcste . I know a few that are from the UK but live in other parts of the world - are they included or does it have to be currently living in the UK only?

Hi Nicky - that will be great if you can come along to the meetup.
Make sure you tag me in the discord tomorrow evening and will see if I'm around. I won't be able to make the whole 3 hours but if there is a follow up post where you can summarise what's going on then I'll do what I can. I'm overloaded with various projects on various platforms though so I don't know how much use I will be.
I've been writing a Beginner's Guide to Cryptocurrency which tries to explain everything in layman's terms and no technical language is used - not easy! Hope that brings some people in to the crypto space, whether it's UK or elsewhere.
Found this - better late than never (though I expect I can't be edited into the list). Either way, I'm in Cambridgeshire. If we double the number every year, Britain will be positively over-run by steemians in a decade or two. Possibly tempting me to post more.
