History

Founded in 1946, Australian National University has been a leading university located in Australia’s capital city of Canberra. The school’s original academic mission was directed only towards postgraduates, but by 1960 the University integrated with Canberra University College to provide courses for undergraduate as well. Today, Australian National University is one of the top school in the entire nation, being ranked first in Australia by the 2018 QS World University Rankings. Because of its prestige, it receives funding from the government and from private enterprises. Students and Faculty

Endowment

In local Australian, currency, the university endowment was reported as high as $1.13 billion. One particular generous donation stemmed from former ANU student Graham Tuckwell, a financial entrepreneur who donated $50m for scholarship opportunities.

 

Alumni

Graduates from Australian National University go on to find tremendous success in a variety of fields, counting 6 Nobel Laureates and 49 Rhodes Scholars among its alumni and research faculty. Two of Australia’s former Prime Ministers, Kevin Rudd and Bob Hawke, studied at Australian National University, along with several judges, CEOs, and other prominent individuals.
