Overcoming Analysis Paralysis

in #steempress6 years ago

I've recently suffered from a short bout of Analysis Paralysis. It's that thing where you study and prepare without applying what you've learned thus taking action. It helps to think in terms of 'testing out new methods' rather than 'taking action'. I dunno. Just seems less aggressive to me. Then again, hesistation is mental.

What I've learned most is that the emphasis should be placed on DAILY ACTION. Not only does it set the right pattern for life and for business, but taking daily action boosts confidence and encourages competence day by day. It's so much easier. It doesn't even matter the goal, whether you want to get a better figure than you had at 20, learn how to parent more effectively or pad your pocketbook, DAILY action is what it's going to take to get there. AND it's ok if it's not perfect.

I've learned (and can teach) how to find the actions needed to make progress to the next level. Now is the BEST time to be alive. There are opportunities for growth everywhere you turn and I've found the best one!

In everything that is said and done you are advertising yourself. Why not guide that to something that gives you more freedom and range in your personal and professional life?

Here are some tips to get over Analysis Paralysis and get some fresh results in your life:

  1. Trust Yourself

You've read books, watched youtube videos, and had chats about a new endeavor that excited you. Now what? If you're frozen on the edge of acting on what you know OR if you only take action every now and then, all you have to do is accept that you know enough. If you're recognizing that you even HAVE this problem, you probably know enough to solve a LOT of problems for other people, and that's what business is all about.

Don't feel tempted to search for other answers (at this time). Tell yourself, "I have all I need" and the answers will flow to you like champagne flows on New Year's Eve. Except instead of getting drunk, you get joy and happiness!! (also, you can have both. 'tis the season)

The whole way this thing works is if you bring that into reality and take small chunks of information and apply the little things that you learn immediately. It will be waaaay easier for EVERYONE. Just let everything flow, you will feel a blend of relief and power. Don't worry about time. Dont worry. Just be present with what you want to do and the answers will come, take as long as you need.

  1. TAKE YOUR TIME

Rush through it! At first I was like 'oh just take your time!' NO! Enough time has passed! Grab an idea and start writing everything you can think of pertaining to that idea. That's exactly how I started writing this blog post. I was spending so much time thinking and studying and taking notes and daydreaming but not acting on anything I was taking in. Whats the point of taking notes if that knowledge will not be used to enrich anyone--not even yourself? Your mind and your heart is full to bursting of everything you want to accomplish, thats why analysis paralysis is so frustrating- there's pressure because you are bursting to let the new you out!

Be the burst! Write as fast as you can, as much as you can. Let everything you know come out on paper. It doesnt even have to be complete sentences; you can fix that later. Let it all come rushing and bursting out like water rapids or like a shaken up soda. SOOOO much relief will follow without any messy cleanup. You want to be able to USE your inspiration.

The great thing is, with consistent and timely application, you can make up for lost time like crazy while naturally creating a unique business idea from that beautiful blend of concepts that have been swirling around in that noggin of yours for the last 6 months.

  1. SHHH! Just do it. And by just do it, I mean stop teling people what you are GOING to do. Stop telling people what you WANT to do. Deliberately stay quiet about what it is that you're wanting to accomplish. I was one of those people that felt like I should declare my desires from the mountaintops and tell everyone who will listen what my desires (and sometimes insecurities) are. It's an incredible release of energy and releasing energy feels good, but you NEED that energy to build that dream that you hold so dear. Stop telling people your business. Stop answering questions about what it is you're doing (unless they want to join you). Instead take notes on what people are asking you and make that a business or service or blog. Don't encourage people to analyze you. It multiplies analysis paralysis. So much of that has to do with the perceptions of other people. Self-confidence comes with quietly being one with yourself.

  2. PERFECTION

Theres never gonna be a 'perfect time' as long as youre not living the life you want to live. Everything will feel like an interruption bec your subconscious clings to a consistent life experience like your child clings to your leg when they want your attention. Might just have to bear it like a crutch and act in spite of fear. Don't take slow steps, don't try to figure out whats going on. Just do the most and do your best and everything will be fine. Let go from what people will think of your methods and procedures. Forget whether or not people will like you- the important ones will LOVE you. Consider perfection your BEST effort.

In the meantime, keep your eyes open for a wakeup call! Don't look at any new material! You don't need any more inspiration. No more analysis. No more questions. Only answers until you act on everything you know RIGHT NOW.

Be immune to fear and blind to the possibility of failure.
