RE: Trigger Warning: I agree with @grumpycat

Hahaa, by now you prolly thought that my response would not appear here. Well maybe you're right. It's not that I have nothing to say; it's that I'm mulling over the evidence. I agree with most of what you are saying, but you underestimate the other guy's greed, so I may dedicate a post of my own on this subject. If I post the evidence I will be truly hated. This platform truly is like the street, you can find everything you like and dislike, but the manipulation has positive as well as negative sides to it, and I'm undecided on whether to expose or not. I also want this platform to succeed in a way that represents true merit. Greetings!

Oh I am not denying the greed of many of the whales. I guess I just look at it as though the whales have put something into this platform. You don't typically become a whale by doing nothing. So either these guys dumped a lot of their own money or time or whatever into the platform already, and are therefore, in my mind, well above those like the guy I mentioned, who hadn't really done that, or like the other people on here who rape the site for money and haven't really invested anything. I'm not sure people would hate you for posting what you think! That's what this site is supposed to be for. Even if I disagreed with everything you said, I would still be happy to hash it out and I still respect you as my friend on here. That's the way it should be.

Though I can understand with some of what @pawsdog has been through that you may not want to step on the wrong toes (or shall I say...flippers?)

Giggles! Yep! ...or maybe I'll do just the opposite, and stomp down hard! I've been documenting some of what made the trending and hot sections of DTube. While I agree with some things, I'm down right disgusted with a few other things. The point being that for something to stand on it's own merit, it has to be seen to be judged; the major upvotes push some things out of the public eye, not getting a fair shot at praise, ... or scorn. Another problem I see is that upvotes generate; down votes degenerate. Why would anyone down vote if a gang could flag all your posts to retaliate? Why would I spend 14 hours to create when someone could turn the camera on him/herself for 4 minutes and get 4x the payout? I spent a lot of time recording the impossible in dark places, to the point that some bands literally drag me out of the house and drive me for several hours, to get the footage. In the mean time, Dtube has made it obvious that it wants selfies shot in daylight.
BTW, my YT channel is verified but not monetized because I have not wanted their money; they are robbing some very talented people, while allowing convicted mob hit men free reign. This guy is a killer: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm4BXaCpgI7exZ_Nu3dkXcQ

Well to be honest, that's why I changed my video strategy, and now I primarily do 4 minute selfie videos that are more off the cuff. I was putting hours and hours and hours of time and money as well into doing cosplay tutorials and parody videos. I figured that's what I could do on here. There were a few problems with this though.

First, my videos didn't do well. It seems like the less time I put into a video, the better it does.

Second, the people doing best on here release daily content. I can't possibly keep up with that. Even if I didn't have 3 kids and an additional full time job, there is no way I could make quality videos every single day, but this platform very well expects that kind of consistency.

Third, why should I dump so much time into Steem specific content when it can't be monetized past 7 days? I guess the allure of YouTube is that you can produce content, and keep adding to it, and hope one day a video goes viral and then people go back to all your old content and make it money. That can't happen on this platform, so really, as far as videos go, it encourages spur of the moment content, and somewhat shallow content as opposed to well thought out ideas and lots of time spent on them!

I'm sorry if you feel slighted for your work. I would like to eventually get back to doing better projects, but I want to get my SP and such up first, so for now, daylight selfies for the win!

There are all kinds of reasons that some people do not want to turn the camera on themselves: don't speak english, deaf/mute/blind, poor health, skin disease, disfigurement, extortion, blackmail and libel/slander just to name a few. I guess if everyone is encouraged to make shallow content, just to post something, DTube will get boring fast, besides, it's the exact opposite of what they stated they wanted when I joined in December. We'll see what happens. Greetings!
Edit: not slighted; not presented to the right audience. If my work is good enough to copy (steal) and reposted to FB for far more views than my original, it's about manipulation and not the quality of the work.
