The Battle of Marawi also known as the Marawi siege (Filipino: Pagkubkob sa Marawi) and the Marawi crisis (Filipino: Krisis sa Marawi), is an ongoing armed conflict in Marawi, Lanao del Sur, that started on May 23, 2017 between Philippine government security forces and affiliated militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, including the Maute and Abu Sayyaf Salafi jihadist groups.
As the conflict is nearing its conclusion, here's a look at how it started and how the country's security forces, the government and the people of Marawi handled the unfolding situation.
The documentary seeks to show, the sacrifices of every Filipino involved to win back and liberate the war thorn City of Marawi.
It gives us a peek at the human side of war, revealing the soft side of our tough looking, battle hardened soldiers, the pain and suffering it has brought to the people of Marawi and the hope, courage and determination to win back and rebuild the bullet riddled City.
