When I was a kid, one of the trading card games I got hooked to was Magic: The Gathering. As the years gone by, I've collected shoeboxes, recycled diskette cases for decks, as well as collected binders with high value/rare cards. It became an investment over the years as every day from middle-school to university, I'd drop by the nearest hobby shop for a couple of matches.
Fast-forward today, the working class me didn't have anymore time for those. Then came along this ad that I've been seeing - Steemmonsters - for quite some time now, and since I already signed up on Steemit, I thought sure why not. I gave it a try and I suddenly felt nostalgic about those early days.
Splinterlands - formerly Steemmonsters - is a TCG built on top of blockchain technology. It's quite similar to Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh. What's nice about this is that you can earn from this as well. Your deck becomes more valuable the more you play - assuming you get stronger and play better. What's more is that if you treat it as an investment, the token behind it also continues to gain value as your deck grows larger!
Matches are automated, so it all boils down on how good you can assemble your deck. You'll need to purchase a starter pack to start playing though, and like other TCG's there are booster packs too to help you expand your deck!
So if you're already on Steemit, and you're an avid fan of TCG's, why don't you sign up right now (here's my affiliate link) and check it out!
