Like everyone and their mom, I got pulled into the world of Steem Monsters. Having been an avid Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering fan for years, I couldn't wait to start playing Steem Monsters after I first saw it. The only hurdle was buying the starterpack, but three days ago I finally had the funds to start playing! (No bully, I'm poor okay...)
I started off in the practice queue, and after waiting for about 5 minutes without a game starting, I decided to just yolo my way into ranked, because "What could go wrong?"
Well, as it turns out, something that COULD go wrong, as pictured above, is a lossstreak of about 12 games. No problem, I know deckbuilding, and my expert view told me that the cards I had at my disposal (standard Life splinter deck because of the daily quest) simply wasn't good enough! So I bought some level 2 cards, and found out that because I bought alpha cards, I couldn't combine them with my beta cards. Alrighty, that can be solved, let me just level the alpha cards and we'll be fine!
I have to let you know that at the time I didn't know I could switch between alpha and beta cards in the market, so I thought it was just semirandom which version you could get. Well, I got my alpha cards, and levelled them up to level two...
To find out in the deckbuilder that I needed a higher summoner level to play those cards.
Okay.
Sure.
Guess I'll buy a level 2 summoner.
With my new level 2 summoner and two level 2 cards, combined with a third card, I proceeded to not-lose everything in ranked. I had a couple of matchups I won, and some I would just instantly skip. The thing is, you start to recognize some names, and rememeber whether or not you won that game. So I managed quite a couple of games in less time than ONE magic the gathering game would cost me.
After completing the mission, I openened my first booster, and was greeted with THIS beauty:
The second day went a lot better by the way :). Prepared to pay my way to winning, I got some level 2 red cards and won almost all my games in a row. Okay not really. But I won my games, and it went easier than the previous day.
As you can see I went on quite a winning streak, making my way all the way to Bronze 2!
Of course, I've read the posts where noobs are recommended not to level cards as much, and not to climb too hard because it'll only get harder when you get higher up and you'll need better cards etc. But for now I'm still in the new-game-and-I-can-win glow, so I'll just see where I'll end up!
See you next time!

Lol can totally relate to this! I remember getting matched up over 5times with the same person, all lose btw lol
I'm also not that much worried about the rankings atm and is focusing much on completing the Daily Quests. I probably would start getting serious and climb my way im the rankings a day before the season ends!
Congratsss on the gold-foiled card :)
