howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!
I was shocked to see this recipe mentioned in a Texas magazine today.
For Texas that kind of thing is almost sacrilegious! lol.
check this out:
18 hours smoked over oak. Is it beef? Nope. But the taste/texture are
pretty great. Mix of jackfruit, seitan, miso, beer, Franklin BBQ sauce
made w extra sugar so it carmalized to a crust — and it did!
The creator says it was a great success.
how's it look?
source
I'd try it. My friend @delishtreats has been teaching me the benefits of
a Vegan diet so see delishtreats... there ARE Texans who are Vegans!
This unusual fake meat was featured in an article about a big BBQ
roundup they're having in Dallas this week with 30 of the best BBQ
joints in Texas. That place is going to smell GOOD!
By the way, I worked as a grill master for a year in a local BBQ joint
which was a country restaurant about 5 or 6 miles outside of town.
We specialized in brisket but did beef and pork ribs, hot links,
chicken, turkey, several sausages.
That was quite the experience, it was fun when people from local
ranches would ride their horses over to the restaurant and tie up
at the front porch. We only used Mesquite wood and the briskets
were smoked for 12 hours. I can smell it now!
Here's the type of meals we were making:
thanks for stopping by folks, God bless you all!
-jonboy Texas
the gentleman redneck
ps- ya know...you might just be a redneck if:
Your idea of a 7 course meal is a bucket of KFC and a sixpack!
(actually sounds pretty good to me!)
No thank you! I'll take beef brisket any day over that strange fruit mess with barbecue sauce and sugar that you mentioned above. Really good beef brisket tastes good even without barbecue sauce!
My son got into smoking meat last year, it was one of those grin and bear it things. He's actually improved a lot over the course of the year, tomorrow he'll be back at it again in between helping me paint.
oh how interesting sunlit7..well if it's done right there's nothing like it so I wish him luck.
what are you painting, like your house?
Yes. I think I was telling you that I have my four year rental certification coming up. You can't have any peeling paint, if they find peeling paint they make you hire a professional to paint your house you can't do it yourself anymore....the only real difference is a professional takes a class, which I am sure they charge a nice sum for, then places caution tape around your house while they paint it...(lol). So basically I go around and spot check for peeling paint, scrape it, touch it up. I generally do the bottom half, my sons do the top. It takes them forever to get motivated, stay focused, etc., if I had a fiberglass ladder I'd probably do it myself, they are much lighter to handle then a steel ladder.
howdy again sunlit7! oh yes now I remember because I was amazed at all the regulations and everything, it's totally nuts like they want to micro manage everyone's lives up there! Well, you have a good system though if the boys do their part.
I'll eat my veggies the normal way next to meat!
haha! yes sir balticbadger that seems to be the growing consensus here! lol.
Hi @janton. That is a no from me for that veggie brisket. Looks as dry as old boots and if you going to be a veggie why imitate. The other food looks amazing by the way. I had ribs tonight and they were very good.
hahaha! sir cryptoandcoffee! very good sir a true carnivore lol. Hey I would try the fake meat, it might be good but I'm trying to avoid gluten and it's basically gluten so...
But a perfectly smoked brisket with Mesquite wood...the best. and we made tacos that sold like hot cakes, they were killer good.
I have seen the smokers and would love to try some proper smoked meats. Ilove my food and that would be on my bucket list. A trip to Texas to come and have some smoked brisket. You guys are known for this type of food so it will be worth the visit.
ha! yes sir cryptoandcoffee..if it's done right and smoked for 12 hours then it's like a bit of heaven and can't be beat!
One of these days I will be eating some and will remember these words.

@janton is the first picture not brown bread? I love the way your first picture was something vegan and looks like crap and then you balanced it up with 3 beautiful photos that made me drool!! haha
hahaha! it's true there's not much they could do to make the first photo look better, it looks like a piece of dried bread and it basically is, the principle ingredient being gluten, but it's supposed to be a good flavored bread! lol.
have you had an excellent BBQ like 12 hour smoked brisket sir blanchy?
What is brisket? Ive had barbeque's with ribs, steaks and burgers but not a whole roast. There this show on tv that follows the barbeque pro's down your neck of the woods. Id love to try some of it!
well sir blanchy it's basically the shoulder, one of the best parts and perfect for smoking and if it's done right and smoked for 12 hours..oh man..it's just the very best!
I would love to try that! Sounds delicious
well sir blanchy I appreciate your enthusiasm but you would probably have to come over here to find the real stuff so you might have to wait awhile!
A vegan BBQ brisket in Texas! I am vegetarian (mostly) but if you are going to feed me brisket, it had better be the real thing! LOL You know the food is good if the good old boys ride up on their horses to get it!
haha! yes Ma'am cecicastor that was an interesting time but I agree that if you eat it you want the best!
Man, that looks dry. I would give it a bash though!
haha..what is a "bash" sir meesterboom? you would give it a try? It might go good with beer!
A bash yeah, a try! It probably would go well with something wet, lol!
A bash yeah, a try!

Red meat. Read my lips, red meat. Brisket is red meat.
These people who make this kind of crap and then try to peddle it ought to be strung up at high noon from a big live oak tree.
Those "Texans" who are vegans are normally either transplanted Texans or who are native Texans that were in FFA and didn't realize that their first place lamb at the FFA show would end up being sold to the local meat market at the champions auction and on display the next week in the meat case with a picture of the blue ribbon award ceremony taped on the front glass of the cabinet by the lamb roast.
My wife happens to be the latter of those two examples by the way.
hahaha! ok sir sultnpapper it IS kind of shocking to see that in an article about the best BBQ joints but I think they just put it there to attract attention, which it did mine.
Your wife is a transplant from another state is that what you're sayin?
She is a native Texan, I went back and edited my comment to better reflect what I was trying to get across.
Her lamb won first place when she was a junior in high school at the FFA live stock show.
The local grocery store that was in Tomball, Texas at the time was the Klein Brothers Grocery and Meat Market.
They purchased her lamb at the champions sale and the next week when she was in the store with her mother grocery shopping she found her lamb butchered and on display in the glass meat case of the meat department.
Her meal prior to that shopping trip was the last time she ever ate meat. She has been a vegan or vegetarian since then, I know there is a difference between the two V's but I couldn't swear which she technically falls under, but she damn sure doesn't eat meat.
wow sir sultnpapper! what a remarkable story..and she gets plenty of protein from other sources I guess but what about fixing meals she fixes meat but doesn't eat it herself I guess.
She doesn't have a problem with cooking it she just won't eat meat. I don't know if she "gets plenty" of protein or not but she is alive and kicking.
haha! she's alive and kicking...probably kicking your butt! lol. well that sounds great, I'm sure she can judge when she needs more protein, women are usually so sensitive about such things.
Wow....
I can't knock it until I try it...
(:
Is the vegan slow roasted thing healthy janton? I can see why the BBQ was popular. Ain't life grand?
ha! yes it really offends people that someone would try to make fake brisket but it IS much healthier if you have a health condition that limits your diet.
Yes the fake meat is basically flavored gluten so it's fine unless you're on a diet to limit gluten which is what Mrs. J and I are on at the moment, so it would be better for us to have the real thing.
But janton is brisket a healthy meat? I thought there was too much salt in it.
howdy angiemitchell! as far as I know it's very healthy, it's an excellent cut of meat but I've never heard of it being high in salt. I could google it but I'm too lazy.
You are right, I confused it with "silver side," lol
I used to eat Veggieburgers they are good. I used to be a vegetarian for years. Not anymore I am the keto diet. I have to eat lots of fatty stuff. No carbs. I grew up eating homemade meals with beef about every day. Beef is so expensive now.
ha!! yes Mrs. J and I are on Keto too, I;ve done alot of posts about the Keto diet. I think it's the healthiest in the world from all the data I've seen.
Yes, I lost 30 pounds on it. I have a lot of more work to do to perfect it.
howdy again cosmiccrimes! well it does take alot of discipline at first but once you get used to it the diet ain't bad and it feels good and healthy. How long have you been on it?
It's not a hard diet. I've been at it for over a year now. I still have a few things to tweak out but I'm almost there.
no sir it's not a hard diet once you get used to it but most people have a problem getting used to it. like me. lol.
It's hard at first. I was weak for a while. Not to be nasty, but it gave me diarrhea for days too.
You had me sold at smoked over oak. I'd try it!!!! Looks good actually and I am a meat eater. Of course, I'm one who will try just about anything once.
The rest of the food...well...I'm surprised the pictures are still there from me trying to eat them. Have a great weekend partner!
haha! yes I would try that too, the smoke had to have totally penetrated that after 18 hours! The rest of it, man it was such good eatin at that B! joint, Mrs. J worked there too.
It really does not look appealing to be honest, but I will be willing to give it a try
howdy there empress! I agree it looks a little generic and dry but after being smoked for 18 hours I'd have to try it and give it a chance. might be a pleasant surprise. thank your reading and commenting!
Funny, first thing I thought when I read the title was, “blasphemy!”
Posted using Partiko iOS
ahaha! yes sir madgoat that's been the consensus on this post today so for once you're in the majority! lol.
Howdy Jonboy! Rainbow Hats off to you for going Vegan. Good for you buddy! I can now say I know one redneck dude who is vegan. That looks delicious too. Maybe a little burnt, but delicious :-).
My wife and I eat Dr. Praeger's black bean and quinoa burgers. They are awesome!
howdy there Rainbow Man! you mean you and your wife are both vegan? I didn't know that? man can you get any more radical? about everything!
ok so Dr. Praeger's ..where do you find those?
At your local natural foods store in town if you got one. Your local co-op should have them. I don't recommend nor condone going to Whole Foods but they would probably have them too.
howdy Rainbow Man! well in our area we don't have a co -op or natural foods store but I'll look the next time we go to one, thanks!
It seems like I'm always coming across some article or post where a vegan or vegetarian is attempting to approximate some kind of meat, mostly beef, and my question is, why? If you don't want to eat meat, why make stuff like meat? It makes absolutely no sense. Do they miss the taste and texture or something but principle gets in the way, so fake meat it is?
It's like me trying to fake I'm from Texas. :) Actually, I might get away with that better than the vegans/vegetarians get away with their disdain for meat when they're attempting to do everything in their power to recreate the taste. Go ahead and eat healthy. Eat the vegetables, but if you've got a hankerin' for brisket, don't try to reinvent it.
ha! howdy sir Glen it's so good to see you here..yes I don't understand it all, I'm sure my friend delishtreats doesn't go looking for veggies that taste like meat but apparently some vegans or vegetarians do.
But Rainbow Man there says they found a great replacement for burgers and I've heard that there are types of replacements that taste like it so you don't have to give up that taste so I like that idea but a brisket?
that's a little different to me at least. Brisket is an excellent meat, very healthy unless you have some kind of medical condition that calls for no red meat. We sold a special taco and quesadilla with finely chopped, lean, no fat brisket and those things were to live for, I mean they were the best tasting Mexican food items I've ever had. sold a ton of em too.
I think delishtreats is awesome and I wouldn't try to knock what they're doing at all.
For others, though, if there's something in your brain that's saying, hey, we should eat meat, than maybe the brain should be listened to.
Ground beef is one of those things that probably could and should be replaced, but still, this has its limits.
That brisket taco sounds pretty good. All of the leaner meats (keto notwithstanding) would be healthy eaten in moderation. You don't have to have meat every meal, or even every day, but it exists for man's use. Nothing is here by accident, including us. We may have not been here first, however which way you come at it, so, anyway. I'm really not getting riled up about this. I'm just saying, if you want to go all vegetarian/vegan, great. Do it. But if the brain keeps saying, I want meat, we need meat, there's probably a natural reason for it.
howdy again sir Glen..I so agree. People vary so much on what they need individually that I don't care what kind of diet anyone has as long as they don't care what kind I have!
Hahaha, you know that I would enjoy the first thing better @janton! BUT I don't miss the taste of meat so I'm not looking for substitutes. I try to eat plant based as much as possible and avoid gluten too.
This brings me to @glenalbrethsen - Hey Glen :) I think that this kind of substitutes are mainly used by people transitioning to vegan diet. They want to eat 'cruelty free - no meat' BUT they like the taste so they look for replacements.
I think everybody has a choice and I'm not a preaching vegan :) I had my reasons why I went vegan and I'm open to discuss them when somebody asks me BUT I would by no means try to convince anybody about my truth.
And Mr. @janton mentioned me in his post JUST because he wants me to read his blogs, lol!
haha! it's true, it's the only way I can get her to read my second-rate posts so she might be a regular on them from now on! lol.
No, no, you know why I don't read your posts... because I don't trust your content anymore, LOL!!!
Hey, @delishtreats.
I'm sure there's plenty of transitioning vegans in the mix, and I guess that makes sense to a degree (guess I'm being more of a purist when it comes to this even though it really doesn't matter that much too me—why? who knows. :) I've also read about it with folks who were a few years into it, also, unless it takes a long time to transition.
To be honest I also don't understand the transitioning vegans very much but well, this is what it is :) You are right too as also some vegans simply like the taste of meat or junk food so they look for substitutes..I think this is also ok as everybody has a choice to do whatever they want to. And as long as it doesn't limit myself, I'm fine with whatever people do :)
Good point! Do you ever wonder if vegans can eat animal crackers? LOL
Hey, @hippie-witha-gun.
That's pretty funny. :) I really don't mind the not eating meat part. It's the eating the not meat part I wonder about. :) We could probably all stand to eat less red meat at least, and eat more vegetables. In doing so, I'm not going to look for a meat substitute for kale.
ahhaha! a meat substitute for kale! lol. that's hilarious.
It's hilarious because you wouldn't even try it. :) You might look for better tasting varieties of kale, or some other so called super food that tastes better than kale, but you wouldn't go looking for a meat that not only tastes like kale, but has all the nutrients of kale without the meat side effects.
I could be wrong, but unless there's some maggot or beetle that eats kale and thus tastes like it, and is able to transmit all its nutrients through its meat, such a thing does not exist and you wouldn't waste your time trying to find it.
Y'all need to see the movie "Earthlings" by Joaquin Phoenix. That movie will make you vegan REAL quick.
what is that movie?
yes sir, very good points.
The first picture, sure I'd eat it if I was hungry, but I'd eat the neighbor cat...or just the neighbors arm or leg if I was hungry too.
The second and following pictures, bow that's real food to eat for enjoyment and sit around joking and laughing about eating the neighbors arm or leg.
Hmmmm gato guisada tacos with leg of Fred..
ahahah! thank you for your input sir spozone! this post has certainly brought out the carnivores in force tonight! lol.
howdy janton, good evening to you. This really look very yummy. And you know, I get this at Famous Dave's. Are you sure you're not getting this at Famous Dave's? lol. Yes, janton they're delicous to the tummy.
haha! howdy there roger5120! no I've never seen this before, why, who is Famous Dave? I guess he's not famous in Texas.
Are you a vegetarian?
No janton, I didn't mean the fake meat, lol. I don't think I would want to eat fake meat. I think only a few does.
So, there is no Famous Dave's in Texas? Bummer, ha ha. Well, If not, then yeah, he's not famous there then. ha here's his enterprise https://famousdavesbbqco.com/menu/#barbeque-combos
howdy there again roger5120! oh man that looks fabulous! I wish they were down here. maybe they'll expand, are you in Colorado?
I'm making this first comment without reading your post. As soon as I saw the title the world shifted and I had to say...
If it's brisket, it - CAN'T BE- vegan.
hahaha! yes sir I know it, it was very strange that they put that in the article about a BBQ roundup in Dallas but it sure got my attention.
I really, really don't know what this world is coming to.
I’ve heard of this! I’m going to be trying jackfruit bbq next week! I’ll let you know. I am not vegan, so that’s the true test lol
really?? you've heard of this? everyone is so shocked that someone would have the nerve to try this! lol. yeah that would be great and if it's good are you doing a post about it?
Well now, this is quite a delightful surprise Cowboy. I think I would like to try that there scrumptious dish sometime. Sounds and looks amazing. So does all the other food, too hahaha <333 ;)
haha! so does all the other food?? spoken like a true Texan reikigirl! lol. You aren't a Vegetarian?
hahahah yes, so does all the other food. LOL :D Nope, not a vegetarian Cowboy, that goal will take me much longer than my 65k goal that...btw....I reached yesterday. Will have my video of it up sometime today ;) heheheh
what the?? no way. 65K in one day? you had to run a marathon to get that didn't you?
LOL check out my video. <333 :)
Be careful with vegan. My BFF is a vegan, so I have tasted most of it. Some is good, and some is a copy made by someone that has never eaten meat. As a Vegan, it is Very hard to get enough B vitamins, and a common side effect is depression.
So IF you decide to be a Vegan, be sure to get some good quality B vitamins and take them every day! I got some for him, and it really helped him a lot!
There is a healthier in between, look into vegetarian. It has the benefits of improved health, with very low danger. I am a preferential vegetarian, I eat a lot of veggies, because I LIKE them! I still eat Meat, when it catches my fancy, but most of my food is vegetables.
I ate steamed vegetables for dinner tonight, because I like them. Unlike a vegan, I put Butter on them, ROFLOL!
:)
sir smithlabs..as I've talked about in many of my posts we are on the Keto plan which I think is the healthiest diet in the world and has done wonders for our health.
The SAD (Standard American Diet) is loaded with Carbohydrates, and limiting them is smart. The truly healthiest diet is Vegetarian, with a lot of History behind it to back that claim.
The Keto diet is similar to the Atkins diet, and is well proven to be a fast weight loss diet. A young Lady I used to work with put herself in the Hospital with the Atkins diet, she went into ketoacidosis.
https://www.datalounge.com/thread/9217453-ketoacidosis-complication-from-atkins-diet
I do NOT know that the diet you are on will do this, but please be careful! I would love to steal the pink chair (Throne?) from you, ROFLOL; But I would NOT want to win it this way! SO Stay healthy! Okay?
But there is a century of empirical data to support the weight loss, and health advantages of being a vegetarian. If I had the discipline, I would do it myself; But I will just have to keep nibbling around the edges I guess.
:)
preaching to the choir.
the Atkins diet had serious issues which I've already written about in my posts.
Hippocrates:
He was a pretty smart old boy! I had a salad from my weed patch tonight. Lambs quarters for lettuce, Purslane for flavor, Dandelions for bite, and some cherry tomatoes (I know those are Not weeds, but they are growing back there). I made some vinegar (with Mother) and oil dressing, and I ate well (it was better than the pizza, ROFLOL)
:)
haha! better for you than pizza by far but I don't know about better tating! if that's where you're at then you're there! but I don't know what Purslane is, some kind of weed?
Yes most people think Purslane is a weed, It is tangy, and I think refreshing. You should try some, you might like it.
:)
Mouthing watering food - and I don't mean the fake brisket.
Vegan Brisket. That sounds like a oxymoron to me.
People are creative enough to create a new dish, but they can't take it a step further and give it a new name.
I think vegans who go for 'fake' stuff, or vegan 'meat' stuff are hypocrites.
But what do I know right? :-)
haha! howdy there quotes-haven! yes sir I'm not sure I understand why so many of them try so hard to imitate meat unless they miss the taste but what do I know? lol. thank you sir.
Come over to NC for some real BBQ!
hahaha! now THAT'S a bold statement!
Hey @janton! How's it going?! Yes, I've been out of the game here for a few days :)
Vegan brisket hmmmm; I'm sure it's good, but alongside the real thing, I just don't know!
We found a real KFC here the other day, and I've got to say; every now and again, it's pretty yummy. For a long time we've walked by a place called Mr. Pollo Kentucky (pollo=chicken) LOL Mexican knock-off KFC :)
shouldn't you be in bed young lady? man I sure missed talking to you this week!
KFC is wonderful every once in a while..specially with beer!
but the real thing compared to the fake meat? no way!
hahaha I"m just heading to bed now :) I've missed chitter-chatting with you too!
only with beer!
I'm with you ... vegan equals no meat, so don't even try to fake it ... especially with a Texan LOL
haha! yes! that's been the main reaction to this post, most are appalled and offended that anyone would even try it! lol. but at least I bet that fake brisket would go with beer. But then what wouldn't? lol.

hey, have you gone completely vegan or it was an experiment? I know a lot of meat eaters who turned vegan but couldn't go on much longer.
I could picture that scene (thanks to Hollywood movies) people coming on their horses, parking it and having a beer ... would love to experience that myself someday..
howdy back again itravelarts! well no I haven't become Vegan or vegetarian, I just thought the article was interesting. No Mrs. J and I are doing the Keto eating plan which is very heavy in meat! lol.
But it is very healthy and we feel great! you aren't vegetarian right?
that sounds great, I had a mentor here, who posts about his keto diet as well here on steemit..
how have you been doing lately, It feels like I am missing so much not being regular here.
swati
One of my favorite things on this planet is smoked sausage! I recently had the opportunity at a Steemit meetup to try a jack fruit bbq made by the talented @hobotang and I was blown away by the flavors, aromas, and textures. I've been trying to find jack fruit locally but have struck out so far. I plan on doing an article about making jack fruit bbq as soon as I can find some.
really?? wow and you're ready to endure the wrath of dedicated meat BBQ fans across the world? lol. that is very interesting sir, can't wait for that one.
and that kind would be healthy for anyone.
lol For me it's not about finding a meat replacement. I'm ALWAYS going to eat meat, but I would like to have some tasty alternatives to my horrible diet. I don't like too many types of vegetables, so when I find one that was kinda cool, it makes me want to give it a shot.
How cool was it being a pit master for a year? I bet you learned some really good tips and tricks of the trade!
You can try to make pulled jack fruit burger - minimalist baker has an amazing recipe. It's so good! I've been making it for my carni friends and they love it! They even asked for the recipe :)
You can use canned jack fruit. I'm sure it's available where you live. If I found it in Switzerland, it must be everywhere, lol!
CANNED JACK FRUIT!!!! What manner of sorcery is this!?! lol I didn't even think of looking for that. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Is minimalist baker a website?
Hahaha, it's really good! just PLEASE be sure not to take the sweetened one, lol..
Here is the link for the recipe: https://minimalistbaker.com/bbq-jackfruit-sandwiches-with-avocado-slaw/
Thanks for the advice and link. There search begins tomorrow!!!
This kind of food is alien for us Indians. Good to see their pictures through your blog. By the way, Congrats on winning Asher's engagement league!
well howdy there sathysankar! well sir..the food is a little foreign to many people in the United States as well but not to the Southern part.
Thanks for reading and commenting and yes the Engagement League win was very nice thank you!
Now thanks to you I'm hungry.... gimme some of those ribs! Feed me!
haha! oh do you like BBQ blacklux or does it just look good? And do you guys do BBQ over there?
Yeah, we love BBQ... and pork, we love pork! Now, gimme some ribs!
oh you love pork blacklux..very interesting. We made the best ribs, had people coming from many miles for those ribs.
I think it looks tasty , coming from a vegetarian myself x
oh winchestergirl! I didn't know you were a vegetarian! wow I'm sorry the hear that! lol.
ha ha @janton , I know your joking ??
hahaha! yes I am totally joking. I know there is alot of research that says vegetarian is the most healthy way to eat so I'm perfectly fine with whatever eating plan people want to do as long as they don't try and force me into it! lol.
well I guess meat eaters can eat healthy too , all down to choice really , no I would force anyone to conform , each to there own x
howdy back winchestergirl! thanks, you just reminded me to go to your blog! lol. Yes meat eaters can be very healthy, as you probably know it's not necessarily the meat but it's the high carbs and sugar that causes so many health problems.
flipping heck , can't we eat anything ha ha , hows you diet going @janton x
All looks amazing. Did you say you tried some of that first one, or...?
howdy sir mepartriot! oh no I haven't but I would if I had the chance but smoking it for 18 hours is quite a process!
Seems like it would end up being more expensive than an equal sized piece of meat.
ha! yes sir mepatriot to cook that thing for 18 hours is a heck of a long time, not just cook but smoke the thing with a good quality wood costs alot of money so maybe it's just an experiment to see if he could actually do it, otherwise I don't really get it.
It looks beautiful. Sure would like to know what it tasted like.
That looks yummy 😋
So you may like this vegan delight, but I am not so convinced. You try it first and let me know! # 🐓🐓
hahaha! howdy there mother2chicks! good to see you again! well I would try it in a second if someone went to all the work of smoking it for 18 hours but I'm sure I'll never get the chance.
It looks good to me 😁I’m hungry just looking at it I’ll smoke it if your ever in my neck of the woods

well howdy there steem-ua! thank you so much for the upvote!, God bless you!
oh my!!! That is freaking huge deal! And you just made me hungry by the minute.. i think i can take that!! hahahhaahaa gimme gimme!
well howdy there maquemali! oh so this BBQ meat looks good to you huh? I tell you what, it's totally amazing, the flavor is astounding! if it's done right.
I figured you for a vegetarian, I'm sure you guys have BBQ meats over there right?
I figured you were up to some mischief over here. I admit that stuff looks like meat. I guess you can throw enough sauce on most anything and almost fool the taste buds.
headchange! well yes very true but in this case the guy smoked it for an amazing 18 hours so that had to have forced the flavor in there. I would sure try it, I bet it's good.
You're not vegan are you? not that there's anything wrong with that, it SO works for some people, lots of people on steemit that i see that's for sure.
I suppose I would try it it is probably good. Not a bit vegan. I can just see me trying to pass that off on my family for real meat. lol
haha! that wouldn't fly huh? that would be very controversial here as well, in Texas anyway!
Well I don't know much about Texas but would imagine they get pretty serious about their beef.

By the way, I am not a vegan. 😊
Very interesting indeed!
Glad to see your looking at nutrition from all angles.
Everything in moderation 😉
Except veggies 😋
well howdy there sugarcreek! haha! yes indeed everything in moderation except veggies and then you can go crazy on them especially if they are home grown.
As much as I LOVE real meat, I'd certainly try it. Due to budget alone, we've spent a good portion of our marriage eating a lot of vegetarian options. Beans are SO much cheaper than meat! Of course some of these 'replacements' are expensive, so I don't know that I'd go to the bother of trying to MAKE this, but I'd certainly eat it without complaint if someone wanted to make it for me! :)
hahaha! yes me too! but to smoke something for 18 hours would take alot of wood but if someone went to that much trouble I'd sure as heck try it out, I agree!
