What is Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease is a disease of central nervous system degeneration, which causes progressive disorder of the brain's nerve cells which will affect the movement of the sufferer. Parkinson attack the nerve cells in the part of the brain called substansia nigra, the part of the brain that controls movement. These nerve cells eventually break down or die from losing the ability to produce dopamine.

Parkinson develops slowly, and the symptoms are usually not very clear initially. The most common symptom is tremor (shaking) on one hand suddenly. Other symptoms are quite a lot of stiffness is the muscle or salau of one part of the body such as arms, neck, or shoulders.

Dopamine is a chemical compound in the body that acts as a neurotransmitter (signal delivery). People with Parkinson's have low dopamine concentrations in the brain.

In the early stages of Parkinson's disease, the sufferer may have no expression on the face, or a swinging hand while walking. Parkinson's symptoms will worsen over time.

Although not curable, medication is needed to relieve / alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson's disease so that the sufferer can still indulge.

Parkinson's Signs and Symptoms

Parkinson's signs may vary from person to person. The initial symptoms may be very mild and unconscious. More often, the symptoms only occur on one side of the body, and will continue to deteriorate on that side.

Parkinson's signs and symptoms that can occur include :

  • Tremor
Hand shaking suddenly is one example. But it can also occur in the arms, legs, jaws, and chin. These symptoms often appear when the body part is being relaxed or not activities

  • Rigid muscle
Muscle stiffness can occur in any part of the body. These symptoms cause movement to be limited, even causing pain.

  • Movement slows down
Often also called bradykinesia. Over time, Parkinson's will interfere with the ability of the sufferer to move or slow down the movement. These symptoms make simple movements harder to do and take more time.

  • Disturbance of balance and posture
Parkinson's disease can cause disturbances in posture and balance of the body, for example when walking the body will falter. The body can either be bent, or bent at the elbow, knee, or hip.

  • Loss of spontaneous movement and automatic movement
Parkinson's can interfere with the ability to move spontaneously or cause a decrease in the movements that are usually automatically performed by the body, such as blinking, swallowing, swinging the hand when walking, and also the gestures of the body when speaking. These symptoms may occur slowly.

  • Other motor decrease
Some other motor disorders that can be caused by Parkinson's disease are decreased ability to speak, for example to be slower, flat intonation, and without expression. In addition, Parkinson's can also cause difficulties when writing.

Drugs will be helpful to relieve the symptoms mentioned above. Parkinson's drugs will improve-or as a dopamine-substitute.

Thus the explanation of Parkinson's disease and symptoms of Parkinson's disease
Hopefully useful for steemians wherever located
