Welcome back for another installment of Sandwich Madness! This week I've made one of my all time childhood favourites 'Cheese & Coleslaw' It sounds basic but you can really make it special with homemade coleslaw and tasty cured meats.
The first step was making the coleslaw in advance to let it chill in the fridge. The missus made it so I can't take credit, it was amazing! She finely shredded white Cabbage, grated carrot, chopped onion, sliced celery, diced apple, seasoned, and mixed together with Mayonnaise and Saladcream. 🔪
I sliced and lightly toasted a Panini roll just to freshen it up, and spread on some butter, I love the structure of this bread! Then added 2 different types of Italian Salami, Spicy Ventricina and Garlic Napoli from the deli :-)
Next up I slathered Coleslaw over one side, grated Vintage Cheddar on the other side and gave the whole thing a nice dusting of fresh black Pepper.
Just a sliced vine Tomato and it's ready to sandwich together! I went with the classic garnish of 'mini cheddars' and tomatoes 🍅 DONE
It turned out just the way I wanted with the soft chewy Ciabatta, the strong cured flavours of the Salami. The fresh and creamy flavours of the crunchy Coleslaw, all mellowed and united with the tangy Cheddar!
Perfect Picnic food, not that there will be any of those any time soon! Looks mostly good except I cant stand tomatoes.
fair play, they aren't that good for you anyway being in the nightshade family, i mainly love thier fresh smell
I used to work at a restaurant, man this was 12 years ago, that we would make pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw on them. At first it doesn't sound good BBQ and Coleslaw mix... but it really is good if you put it on a toasted garlic bun.
Mmmm that sounds soo good to me! smoky meat with coleslaw is incredible :)
Now that’s a sandwich, look way better than subway, infact they can learn a few tips from you lol
Solid work the Misses did. Fresh home made coleslaw is definitely the best kind.
That spicy Ventricina sounds soooo good.
Lovin' the panini bread too. That's optimal sandwich bread!
Thanks mate she did a good job, women seem to have surprising skills with coleslaw! mine ain't half as good. Yeah that spicy one was very tasty i need to experiment more with salami theres quite a few ive never tried, Cheers bud :)
Coleslaw in the sandwich?? That's fuckin brilliant. Of course, creamy, crunchy, pairs well with cured meats/ salami. Going to definitely try this one next time I find some leftover slaw in the fridge, can't lie, I'll probably use it as an entry😂
DO IT!! soo good if youve never tried it youre missing out! i made a tasty one earlier with toasted brioche bun with ham and melted cheese with a load of coleslaw it was BEAutiful :) Cheers bud

I first heard of coleslaw on a sandwich in 2008, it was a "Slaw-Dawg" which is, you guessed it, on a Hot Dog. I have also seen the BBQ-Slaw setup like DGSS mentions above! Your creation looks to be top-notch, I never really thought the others would be that good. But this looks Really Good!

Sometimes it takes third party to initiate it ;)
