Wow.
We had some great entries this week, and I'm sorry that I just couldn't award all of my favourites. Here is my shortlist that made it through the very first round of selecting.
Visit the steemitphotochallenge tag and sort by new! Vote for your favourites โ there's still time!!
But First!
$250 USD B&H Photo Video Gift Card
This was donated by @berniesanders
And the winner is....
@Litrbooh!
@litrbooh has won an honourable mention 3 times in the last 10 SPCs, but never placing in the top 3, making them the most Honourably Mentioned!! I like to award participation and I want everyone to get a chance at great prizes.
There was a tie for this prize, between @litrbooh and @k471 with three honourable mentions (without placing) and so a random winner was selected between them resulting in @litrbooh.
Please contact me on steemit.chat for the details. You'll need to prove it's you, of course. In the event that @litrbooh isn't able to accept the prize within a reasonable amount of time, then it will default to @k471!!
And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
Honourable Mentions โ 10 Steem Each
Third Place โ 50 Steem
Second Place โ 100 Steem
First Place โ 150 Steem

Thank you for unexpected (but so desired at the same time) reward! :)
I'm so happy now!
Congrats to all!
Congratulations to all the winners!! These are some really captivating shots! :)
Some thoughts for future challenges:
Elaborate on "negative space" I'm curious as to what you mean.
Negative space in this context would be the tension, forms, or patterns created by other subjects in the empty space of the image. I had the thought after seeing the shapes created in the negative space (sky in this case) of @k471's photograph of the building and crane.
So contrasting objects in light and dark or maybe as in subject matter?
It can be light and dark, although it doesn't have to be. Not sure what you mean in the last part of that question though? I suppose I'm thinking about it more in terms of design where you can use minimalism in shapes to create other forms within the frame. This is a great example by Disney:

In photography, it might look something like this:

Oh Okay I think I understand. The latter part of my last question was whether or not it was a contrast of themes or concepts.
Awesome pictures everyone - every one! :)
this was a great theme, congrats to all participants, winners, and to @litrbooh for the special prize.

Yay for honorable mention, and congrats to the winners! This challenge is so much fun!
Congrats to you all there at the top! And to all participants! Continue to give your best. Results are coming with time and inspiration. Keep going and use as less as possible photo editing. The work during taking the picture is the most important.
Looking forward to next week's theme!
