It has been a great few weeks of 14 challenges with some great shots of everyday life, people, landscapes and effects. It is on this last point that I would like to garner opinion on the crossover from steemitphotochallenge to art when some photos have been heavily edited in lightroom and photoshop? when does a filter effect in lightroom crossover to photoshop editing and shift from photo to art?
Should the challenge be about minimalism rather than excess of effect?
As long as there are photos, they have been edited in multiple ways. Modern technology (aka digital photography and Photoshop) make both easier and accessible to a wider public: shooting and editing. The mere process of digital alteration does not automatically transform a photo into a piece of art. And even it IS classified as art – is it not a photo anymore? In short: If it is taken with a camera, it is a photo. :-)
Thanks @k471 - always good to get more perspective!
I think some challenges can have rules such as only allow jpgs straight from the camera, and other challenges no restrictions on the post-processing allowed.
For these challenges (#steemitphotochallenge by #jamtaylor), I appreciate the rule : basic edition. Soo many places ppl use massive editing... Here, i feel dedicated about finding the spot, managing the settings with my camera and a little Lr to make it crisp...
I'm bored of staying in front of a screen managing hours of manipulations to "artificialize" something that is naturally beautiful...
I would like this spirit to continue here...
I noticed that its not the fact in real... shame
Agree @stansmith and perhaps another category of enhanced?
