This is volume 1 of a new series, STEEMIT FOR DUMMIES
Read Below:
This infographic was made with the free tool, Piktochart. Go here to make your own: https://magic.piktochart.com/
There are always gray areas, but as a general rule, this infographic covers three areas: images, NSFW and posts. For example, if you write a post that references an image, say it's something that you need to show, if you link to the source, I believe this is acceptable. What's not acceptable is trying to pass off other people's work as your own and just posting image after image, mindlessly trying to rape the reward pool with work that you didn't even create. Steem was created so that we can mine it with our minds. When you steal images that you didn't make and try to gain from it, you are in fact not mining at all. You're stealing from another person.
If you are a Steemit newbie, and you're confused, please ask yourself this question:
Am I Trying To Exploit Someone Else's Work In Order To Make Profit For Myself?
If the answer to that question is yes, then, don't post it on Steemit. Create something yourself and post that instead.
In the next volume of STEEMIT FOR DUMMIES, I will show you how to make your own GIFs and MEMES.
There are so many ways to create stuff for Steemit, it is almost insane. I will teach you about all the tools I know are free, open source and creative commons.
In Steemit, your reputation is the most valuable asset you have.
Think about that for a second.
Carry on,
Stellabelle
[I include all sites, like busy.org, chainBB, eSteem, Golos, Steepshot in this information. Steemit is still the most popular website, so that's why I am focused on it.]
At least for me apps works not so stable, due to this few posts I posted few times. Is it a possibility to cancel such repeats?
You can EDIT your post the first 7 days ( until the payout comes), but....you can not DELETE your post. Because it is written in stone ( in a blockchain !) . The most you can do - edit it to nothing, leaving just like one single DOT, or a small note "deleted".
Thanks to you, StellaBelle, I switched from facebook to steemit.
And I'm glad of that.
ah, good, me too....I still post on Facebook, mainly using it as a conversion tool to get people in here.
Me 2. Using FB now just for sharing my Steemit posts there ( at most)
@onealfa Yo igual uso Facebook solo para replicar todo material de #steemit
exactly.... use Facebook to recruit people here.
The chart looks so cool. Thanks for sharing where we can make our own. My mind is already working on an idea where I could use one. Learning to do more things is one of the many benefits of being here. This week I've learned how to make memes and a Gif for signature (a bit tacky, but it's my first try).
nothing is tacky that you make yourself. It's cool to make stuff.....and get paid for creating stuff? It's almost insane, how many opportunities and creative things can be done.
@ladyrebecca
Same! I learned to make GIF since I am here. Very cool!
More tools for the tool belt!!
Peace!!
Thanks @stellabelle
I sincerely look at your article articles, and I want to follow you and learn from you, I feel you are a great person, and may I follow you continue ...?
@stellabelle
You will learn, as your passion says so. Thanks! Keep asking questions and educating yourself.
After watching your post I changed my post thumbnail used a photo as a thumbnail from Pixabay because the post didn't do much I made just like $0.02 cents pending payout.
Earlier I used the image from one blog and mentioned the source of a blog that was the mistake.
Once reputation is destroyed , it is very difficult to get it back up. Be original , be yourself , no one is better than anyone in the world , we are all unique and bring our own talents to the table . Once day our work will be known , this is not a get rich overnight , work hard to earn your flight .
yes. The marketing message has been hijacked because people don't even realize that reputation is everything. They only know: post and vote buy.
You are spreading a great message to the community , hopefully more become aware of the mistakes they are making
Very helpful content, even some oldies should find it useful, afterall the day we stop learning something is probably the day we die right???
I really like the info and the link you dropped on piktochart. I think it will be very useful to me, i am checking it out now.
steem on!
Don't ask for follow for follow.
that will be a vol. on etiquette.
And fella 4 fella? ;)
Pretty solid rule book
I have a request for Steemit for Dummies. What are your thoughts on multiple postings in either of the following scenarios:
#1. I posted to 5 rooms, then post again to 5 different rooms, etc....
#2. I posted something when I only had 10 followers, now I'm going to repost because I have 100, 1000, 10000?
Is that bad form or good tactics?
Thanks bunches!
Personally I would spend my energy making friends and writing comments instead of posting to rooms. Think about it: everyone else is posting to rooms. How many people do you think are reading in those rooms? 0. Not an effective strategy.
Thanks! Great idea!!
actions must be taken for nsfw posts because when i am not in mood why changing my mood for that :D :D with nsfw the posts made me feel horny :D so they should be ban
Either that or get that taken care of before you log onto Steemit.
I think he states that due to certain cultures ban things when it makes them "feel" different than the normal social structures. By putting nsfw that is signaling to not go there, but I don't think it should be banned if you are inclined to view that type of material.
steem is censorship resistant......obviously, illegal content like child porn, copyrighted images, and stealing artist identities will be flagged to oblivion
Yes, and that content should be, but then it comes down to the grey areas, where you may not like it, or I may not like it, but in another country, it is a social norm.
Well, all adult posts need the nsfw tag. That way they are covered. If you don't want to see NSFW posts, turn them off in your account settings.
Lol simple enough to understand.
I mostly post my own pics, but I sometimes take photos off the internet to make a meme out of them.
Well, that is different, because you're doing artistic re-creation, and adding something to the work......
Thank you very much for your great initiative!
I was so confused to see why this was blocked.
I thought that you resteemed an erotic posts than I realised it was your own leaving me pretty confused.
A really useful guide @stellabelle
It seems like you have outlined the most basic rules to be followed as well as how and when to use the nsfw tag
I had a dildo in the NSFW section, and was not sure if kids should see it....so i put that tag on.
Then i just replaced it with the hand and took off the nsfw tag.
Great post, thanks for sharing! I gave you a vote. I hope you enjoy it.
Great work!
tip! 2 hide
ok, i got that, so thank you! do you have a tip bot?
It's @tipU (not my bot), and it's freaking cool. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I did a post about it last night.
i already changed the image from a dildo to a hand.
dont beg for upvote, for follow :) dont steal some person works and impersonate them.
I'm following because I'm fairly new and trying to figure out what I'm doing lol. But, I'm posting my own material and having fun! :) Thanks for the info!
The n00bs need house trained. LOL
yesterday i talked to a new user, and he honestly seemed not to know these basic things. Since most users don't talk to the newbies, it's a huge problem.
We have been around long enough that we don't even realize how much we know. But some of the stuff is sort of basic but it is hard because people on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram were able to get huge followings doing some wacky stuff
Looking forward to the gifs & memes one. Was just thinking I need to learn some new things & get creative/have fun with it. Endless amounts of things you can do!
Kind of a shame this stuff even needs to be said really, it should be common sense. Seems to be lacking nowadays :p Great post.
Thank you @stellabelle, looking forward to your next volume! As a newbie, I have a lot to learn in the steemit world, but am enjoying the experience! I love blogging on life in general, definitely not techno stuff. Great therapy in a crazy busy world! Used to be hooked on Facebook but steemit outshines it by far!
get all your Facebook addict friends over here, then you can build your own party palace on Steem!
Very simple and straight to the point. I love it!! Thanks @stellabelle
The most important thing is "You are Welcome on Steemit but leave you Copy-Paste at the door"
Thank you so much for doing this @stellabelle. I'm not so proud to accept the 'dummy' label when it fits; even though I'm around a while on Steemit and on the internet since the early days of CompuServe.
I've really learned most of how to navigate Steemit by following your posts, so really looking forward to the rest of this series. ( I really had no idea for instance that all gifs come from giphy.com)
Learn something new every day :)
Thanks for this post !! I'm always wrong about something and I finish editing as fast as I can :( <3
I like this stuff. Thanks @stellabelle. Really appreciate it a lot. So,many things to learn.
wow your post always make me now something new women :D
If I post youtube video, then is it compulsory to write video source or not?
no, the source to the youtube video shows up automatically. No need to write it out.
I'm looking forward to those tools you'll be sharing :) - free, open source and creative commons :):)
@stellabelle - As usual, you have made a very valuable point without mincing any words. The question you have asked everyone wanting to post to ask themselves "am I trying to benefit from someone else's work" needs to be asked not only while posting on Steemit but also in other areas in life. For example, downloading pirated songs and movies. I have always tried to depend on my hard work and have supported original content on Steemit. I hope newcomers do follow your advice and enrich everyone's Steemit experience by bringing interesting new content to the platform.
By the way - I used the free web based tool BeFunky for creating collages and infografics. Pikochart looks interesting though. I will definitely try it. Thanks for pointing it out.
Regards,
Great post, upped and excited for this new series! Will link to it as long as you don't mind.. of course will source you correctly!
Great explanation, thank you. Your classes and this post are helping my logical mind start to understand. I look forward to the next STEEMT FOR DUMMIES post!
How do you look at posting my own content that I published also elsewhere?
That's fine...I do it too. I post to Medium and here, for example. I never know which platform will last the longest anyway....Plus on Medium, there are different readers than in here. So, it's fine as long as you're the creator and own the rights.
Thank you for the clarification, it helped.
@stellabelle eres buen@ sigue asi...
@stellabelle You've just succeeded making me feel like I'm no more a newbie. I feel so powerfully involved and welcome.
Thanks for this!
Hi true steemit friends wherever located. I have seen your blog and it is very interesting, my goal is to have more friends who can help each other. Because I'm new in steemit. Please enlighten and input for steemit progress. Thanks vote, follow & resteem me.
