Go to school, graduate and get a good job.
That seems to be the best advice we get from our parents or guidance when we get into school, but even as good as that may sound, it's actually not good enough.
I can't count the number of times my mom told me about studying to get a good job. But is that what school is all about? Studying yo get a job?
Many students in the university today went to school for the wrong reason. If you pick students at random in some schools in Nigeria and ask them "where do you see yourself in 5 years time", you'll hear them say "I want to work in mobil or chevron or work with the government."
Our mindset has been conditioned to think that our success is tied to the success of an already succeeding person or company.
Yes I know not everyone is supposed to be a CEO or own a Company, yes I know, but don't let your dreams die because you have a comfortable job, salary is the bribe that kills your dreams. So keep your job and mind your business; your job is where you are working currently, your business is your own dreams ,your business is what will sustain you when you lose your job.
You can dream and make sure you dream big.
Challenges students face in school
1. Distraction from friends :
Getting into school with the mindset of coming with a clean result is every students dream but school is not a one day thing. It spreads into days and weeks and each day you get to meet different people who will either motivate you or distract you .
However there are good distractions to though. I remember when I first got distracted into coming into cryptocurrency. That day was a Saturday and I just wanted to have a quiet time. I was in my room with my roommate then ( @emmexdee ) and a friend ( @mrfelix ) came around to tell @emmexdee about a cryptocurrency business. I wasn't just happy about their conversation because that was supposed to be my quiet time for my books, but hey, they were talking about money and I accepted the distraction, today i am happy i got distracted.
But there are negative distractions too, avoid friends that don't tell you about things that will give you money.
2. Few academic successful people
If you look around the world today, most successful people didn't go to school or didn't finish school or are currently not using their certificate and that is a really big challenge for manystudents.
I mean why should i you tell you to go to school when your mentor didn't go to school?
3. Time management
Time is one commodity that cannot be reoverd. managing time is a big challenging factor for students becuas every second count.
the best way to manage your time as a student is by avoiding conversations and meetups that adds little or no value to your goals or carrier.
So give more attention to activities that are important and urgent, pay less attention to matters that are urgent but not important. that way you'll be able to give more time to important stuffs.
4. Poverty
Poverty is one of the biggest killer of dreams, someone like me,i was so poor that i didn't even finish secondary school, i had to stop and continue with lesson when my school fee became to expensive for me to pay (my fees then was around $50).
So if you are a student and you are facing financial challenges, embrace steemit and steem like your life depends on steemit and use some of your earnings to invest in other businesses too.
5. Relationships
Relationship is another big killer for students. i remember the first day a girl broke my heart, i was just in my first year in the university and the breakup was a day to m y test. mehn i felt like just killing myself (it was just a feeling , i can't kill myself na , because of woman ? Nah!!!). i was just lucky that the test was shifted the next day , else, i would have so failed.
whenever i do any seminar for young guys ,i often tell them to avoid relationships if they are starting a carrier. you should only consider one if and only if the girl believes in your dream same way you do, else opt out to avoid heartbreak and distraction.
6. What to major on
have you ever been in a situation where you love a course but you cant attempt to do it because you are not the one paying your fees? i have been there before . you know our parents thinks they know the courses that is marketable, the course that are selling, But does that really count ? i don't think so.
you should study what you love, not what they said is good, because everyone will give you their experience and you are not going to live their life at the end, you will live your own life. Major on a course that will bring you happiness and fulfillment.
I remember a story of a young medical doctor that graduated as the best graduating student in his time. when he was called to make his speech, he started by saying thank you to all his lecturers, friends and family and at the end of his speech, he said this degree is actually not his own that he doesn't deserve it, he only studied medicine because his father really wanted him to be a medical doctor as the first, so he is done with the course and now he can give the certificate to his father and face his carrier as a musician.
Do you know this same thing still happen in our world today, we find youths living the life and dreams of their friends and family, living an unfulfilled life and trying to please everyone, that is the life of a failure. what happened to your own dreams? start living your dream!!
No one should believe in your dreams better than you do
Summary
But education is not a waste, its a training, a training of the mind, if you can remember to do your assignment and get to class early and prepare for exams, then you can succeed in any other thing you do.
Success comes with challenges, and you must overcome all those challenges before you win, so be bold to take those steps and decisions that will give you a happier future, don't live to please anyone, but let your life touch people around you positively .

Nice one boss.. Indeed success comes with alot of chalenges.. The road is not always rosy
"avoid friends who don't tell you things about money" that part is way cool 😎
thanks for the article @samstickkz ...so helpful!
Hmmm, i wish i had used the time and energy i consumed on education to learn a vocation, i would have been my own boss by now. We were told education is the key to success when we young, its either they were lying to us or the padlock has been changed. Gradated since two years now and the jobs have been seeing ranges from 20 to 25k, in this economy??? Infact i shake my head for this country Nigeria. God help us all
I didnt say its a waste, but this is not what we were promised, they told us emphatically that education is the only road to Success
A lot of students are not properly guided on how to navigate their way through school. How fortunate are the students reading this post if they can take guidance from it. Thank you @samstickkz, I learnt something myself.
Well stated...
School life teaches a lesson before giving a test; Street life gives a test before teaching a lesson

Education is not a waste, even though when we finish we waste years looking for jobs. But its a necessity for one to be educated. It helps us become more aware and more professional when talking. But nevertheless, i like friends that talk about money to me o
lol i love when people talk about money
