Hi all steemian friends, on this occasion, I would like to share another interesting basic trick of arithmetic, especially for students who want to master arithmetic. This trick is named as Subtraction with Additions - Part 2.
You've just taken a professional basketball game for the first time. In this match, your team wins the game with a score of 111 - 85. What is the score difference between your team and the opposing team? To find out the answer, we have to do a 111 - 85 subtraction.
Here's the ways!
The quick trick to get the answer, we must add up the difference of two numbers with 100. In using this trick, one of the numbers must be more than 100, and the other number must be less than 100. In the example of basketball score above, the score is 111 more than 100 and 85 less than 100. To get the answer, ask in your mind what the number is between 111 and 100. Similarly, the distance of the numbers between 85 and 100. Sum both the number of the distance. That's the answer.
Let's try with another example!
Always remember! This trick can also be used on numbers which have the distance of 200, 300 and so on.
