How to Study in ART
Hey there steemit so today I whipped up a small page of collected knowledge and compressed it into as some simple as one page, and to show you how much you can do with just a page of art to get better! This was my way of steamrolling (heh) through the road to improvement. Theres no way to avoid it but study anatomy but how do we study anatomy?
Drawing is a skill everyone can do but mastering it is hard, I'm still an amateur artist in the works but i'll provide as much knowledge as possible!
Before we start our tutorial I want you guys to understand one thing in getting better quickly and not overwhelming yourself too much. That is to see BASIC SHAPE. As a beginner we get overwhelmed with trying to look at all the shapes of a face and we don't know where to begin.
Core fundamentals of a face are the eyes, nose and mouth. I've put a wireframe sort of like thing in my art to show you guys the shape and form, it's a rough stage but its enough to present information of a skull in a few strokes. Be confident with your strokes and try not to draw line over line over line to get it right.
All you need to do is understand the shape and gain that muscle memory from your brains to your hands.
If you are struggling to find or draw complex things, think of the everything in planes. whatever shifts in direction up or down you make a square!
Studying the eyes
Here is my goto process of how I draw my eyes, they used to take 15 mins to draw one eye now it's down to about 20 seconds, just keep drawing the same thing over and your hands and brain will remember the shape and bend it to your will!
- 1 and 2 show random eye shapes you can do any you want just look at different photographs of peoples eyes on pinterest is an easy try!
- 3 Once you got that eye shape simply place a circle in the middle of the eye! It's that simple!
- 4 Place a dark circle in the centre of the eye, and shade from dark to light top to bottom.
- 5 shade under the eye for the eye bag and the eye lid and you're done with the simple eyes exercise! Do try this multiple times to get the hang of!
Now the next step after this phase. YOU can now draw a simple neutral eye, you're on the road to becoming a great artist knocking down that first stage! Now you gotta bend the shapes of the eye, look at the mirror and stare at yourself in different intensities for reference. You are your best reference you can study and learn things all about yourself if you're not comfortable dont hesitate to look at images!
Heres just a few of these eye sketches!
I hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial, upvote this content if you enjoy it, ask me what more do you want to learn, what characters do you want me to draw. I'm sure you'll all be able to become absolute drawing wizards! until next time goodnight. -
@lunaticmoon
This is a great breakdown of the fundamental skills. I used to think that some were just naturally talented at drawing (and they are), but it also takes work and a disection of the task into discreet skills that are practiced. Thanks for the reminder. I hope there is more to this series.
Tutorials are always awesome :D
