Bible stories for Kids 21 - The story of Moses - Part 1

Exodus 1- 2:10

Joseph died when he was one hundred and ten years old. Over time, Joseph's brothers also died.

There was a new king in Egypt. Jacob's descendants, the Israelites, increased. They became so much that the land was full of them.
Then there was a new king in Egypt. He knew nothing about Joseph and everything that had happened in his time. He said to his people; Look the children of Jacob, who were now called Israelites are becoming more and stronger than us. Let's make a plan against them so that they can not multiply.

The Pharaoh appointed Egyptians over the Israelites who forced them to do the work of unpaid slaves.

The Egyptians hated the Israelites and made them work very hard but it did not help because the Israelites became just more and more.

Then the king decided to do a very ugly thing. He forced two Hebrew maternal nurses to do something ugly. He wanted them to ensure that the boys of the Hebrews women did not live.

Because these two nurses had respect for God, they did not do what Pharaoh said. They also kept the boys alive. When the Pharaoh asked them why don't you kill the baby boys, they answered: The Hebrew women are very strong, they give birth before we can get to them to help them.

Then Pharaoh ordered the Egyptians to throw all newborn Israelite boys in the Nile. However, they had to keep the girls alive.

At this time a woman married. The woman had expected and brought a boy into the world. When she saw how beautiful he was, she hid him for three months.

When she could not hide him any longer she took a basket of reed and made it watertight with clay and pitcher.

She put the baby in the basket and hid him between the reeds of the Nile River. The baby's sister watched him from a distance.

One of Pharaoh's daughters came down to the Nile River to bath there. When the princess saw the basket between the reeds, she sent one of her girls to take it out. When she opened the basket she found the boy lying in it and crying. She was sorry for him.

The boy's sister then approached the princess and asked: Will I get a Hebrew woman to take care of the baby? Yes, please, replied Pharaoh's daughter.

The girl went and called the boy's mother. Take this baby and feed him, said Pharaoh's daughter to her. I will pay you for that. His own mother took him and looked after him.

When he was big enough, she took him to Pharaoh's daughter and she adopted him as her own son.

She called him "Moses," because, "she said, I took him out of the water.

Next time I will tell you what happened next to Moses.
Remember the Bible is not just a made-up story. It is the word of God and it is a true story. Everything happened exactly as the Bible tells us.

That was an idea that the Holy Spirit sent to the mother of Moses. Although it might seem like a strange idea to anyone, it was the best thing to save the baby.

Yes, that is true @nayibe and sometimes we also think it's strange that we have to do something but then the Holy Spirit shows us why we had to do it. Thank you for commenting.
